“An excellent restaurant in a lovely location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Excellent food at this restaurant - the outside seating area is very relaxed and a lovely spot on a nice evening. There are fixed price menus on offer and the quality of food is a very high standard.
The service was very efficient and would certainly recommend this restaurant

We stayed for one night in mid August. Rooms were very clean , small but comfortable and the price charged was at the right level for the time fo year - 135 inc breaskfast. Staff friendly and welcoming. Overall we would recommend this for a stayin Durbuy

This is the place to stay in Durbuy, which to me is the place to stay in Wallonia. The hotel is located right on the charming old square of the oldest part of town, right where you want to be. Beautiful room, good service, quiet, and a wonderful restaurant. English spoken. If you don't stay here and then stumble on it, you'll wish you had stayed here. Very romantic.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 8 and had the entire balcony to ourselves.

We stayed in Clos des Recollets in August 2011 for 4 nights. We found the hotel charming, the staff polite, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent on the nights we ate there. It is a beautiful hotel and we were very comfortable. The town is a tourist attraction, but mostly during mid-day; it is quieter in the morning and the evening and even though we were there during the height of the tourist season we found it relaxing and charming. Well worth visiting.

I see that previous reviews were over six months ago. I think some things have changed. First the positive. It sounds like the rooms have been redone since prevous posts. They are small, but spotless and comfortable. It is nice to look out the windows at the countryside in this charming town. We chose the five course dinner. The food was flawless--every course was delicious. Now the strange part--the negative. We never saw anyone in the reception area. I had to go into the restaurant to find out how to check in and finally a person came to give me keys. There was no help to the third floor with luggang--no elevator. Although the food was delicious, the timing of the courses was way off. The first two or three came quite quickly and then we waited over an hour for the main course. All this without any explanation or comment from the server. The next morning there was no one in the breakfast room to help patrons and when we checked out a woman who had been mopping the floor in the kitchen came to help us. Reviews from last year mentioned the charming chef and his wife---they were not in evidence during our visit. Maybe this was just an unusual weekend or something. If we had been greeted warmly and told that they were short staffed it would have made a big difference in my review.

Forget the cynics about Durbuy...."too touristy". Baloney. This is set in a beautiful wooded valley with a beautiful small river. It is a cobblestoned, castled gem of a place. Tell the hundreds of europeans who crowd it during the day. Multiple good hotels and restaurants, you can walk around this small town and breathe in the air and woodsmoke for hours. Plenty of outdoor activities. I've been to Durbuy 4 times and love it. The hotel is extremely well done, I guess in a building that is hundreds of years old. Very tastefully renovated. Small but very clean and stylish room, I do not care about amenities beyond room & location, so I generally could care less if there's internet or a pool. You'll have to check out the website to find out. BUt the location is lovely, the town is lovely, and I HIGHLY recommend walking around at dusk or night, especially if you like photography. Many good restaurants (we ate at Vieux Pont, but I've eaten at Le Sanglier des Ardennes also, and it was ****). I'd have no second thoughts about going to Les Recollets. Breakfast was typical and very good. Staff spoke adequate english.
