LOCATION: Excellent at the end of a valley, is incredibly quiet and gives you what you would expect from a summer holiday in the Austrian alps. Walking distance (<30min walk) from the centre of Badgastein through the woods with a flat and pleasant walk.
The hotel is quite characteristic indeed, with 3 main buildings well spread over the property and therefore well integrated in the natural surroundings.
STAFF: At reception the staff was very warm and helpful (we ordered extra pillows that were delivered promptly). One of the waiters baked a cake for my birthday too, very nice indeed.
ROOM: The style (it was the "Duke's room") was very characteristic and we loved it. It was spacious and had a nice balcony (watching the sun entering the valley in the morning was amazing!). It was also very clean (although the bathroom was a little small and had no bidet) and usually done by the time we got back from our breakfast.
RESTAURANT: decent choice for breakfast of cereals, yogurt, sausages, eggs, etc and local salami (although they seemed to run out of juice regularly). Very good food for dinner. Waiters very helpful, but service maybe a little slow (it would be hard to have dinner quickly if you may need to do so).
SPA: outside swimming-pool constantly at 26'C, inside pool at 31'C. SPA staff very nice although you have to schedule your treatments some day in advance if you want it done early morning/evening as it is quite busy.
The hotel is family friendly so there are many kids around (this may be an issue for some although this is most noticeable at dinner and around the pool areas).
LANGUAGE: mostly german and english - basic italian although many of the guests were italian during our stay.
WOULD (and hopefully will!!!) DEFINITELY GO BACK!
