“"THE BEST EVER"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

My husband and I had a GREAT TIME staying at Hotel Dario; between their excellent service, courteous personnel, food, ambience, etc., they made us feel like home!! Rooms are extremely clean and well kept on a daily basis.

We have stayed there several times and feel now as part of the Hotel Dario’s family.
We would recommend everybody and anybody that is looking for a joyful vacation as well as to relax. Just make your reservation and they will take care of it!!!

Best regards to all….

The Dario hotel has an excellent location, right in the center, 1,5 blocks from the central square and the cathedral. It is located on one of the main restaurant streets, which makes for some nice atmosphere, but also loud evenings, so avoid the rooms towards the street if you want to have early nights (the rooms towards the street have small balconies with lovely views though, so if the noice doesn't disturb you they are the best ones).

The hotel itself is a beautiful old colonial building that has had some excellent renovation done. All the colonial charm is there, but without the murkiness you sometimes find in such old buildings. Everything is fresh and clean. The service is great, breakfast included, and if you have Amex gold you get the 3rd night for free. Rooms differ a bit in size, so ask to see some different ones if you have a choice.

They have a small (yes, very small) pool in one of their courtyards, excellent for kids. We travel with small kids and they loved the pool at the end of a long warm day of sightseeing. The other patio has nice sofas and chairs, where you can have a night cap or just hang out with Lola, the parrot.

All in all - a top notch hotel - recommended for all!

We really liked the Hotel Dario. This is a very good hotel, the rooms are of a high standard, as is the service. The hotel has retained many original features, which along with the high quality furnishings make this a special place.

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the street, which was great for people watching and soaking up the atmosphere before a night out. Some may, however, find rooms at the front of the hotel a little noisy as there are a number of bars and restaurants on the street (we never had a problem and most places were shutting up at about 11).

In general, this is a nice place. We went over the holdiays, and I don't think it's worth the inflated in-season price. The service was good, and the central courtyard was nice. The room was pretty small for what we paid, but it was clean and had what we needed. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, but nothing too special. Overall, you can definitely do worse, but should probably see if you can do better.

Thank you very much for giving your opinion about our hotel, we will definitely take into account your comments about the breakfast we provide and the rooms. Actually rooms are not standard in size because this hotel was once a house since 1902 and we did not want to destroy one of its main attraction (the architecture). We also needed to follow the guidelines requested by the Municipality of Granada.

In regards to our prices, we are a hotel which provides quality service and are of good price based on the season. We charge even less than our competition.

Thank you once again for your comments and we will sure be always aiming for the best to make our guests feel great and make them come back again.

We sincerely hope to see you at Hotel Dario once again.

Best regards,
Ana Zavala

WOW what a great place. Totally as advertised. The location is great and the rooms are excellent. Had a chance to stay on two different occasions during our recent trip to Nicaragua which allowed us to try the different rooms. Both are great. Very, very clean and large with modern air conditioning and flat screens. The balcony rooms are fantastic with large french doors that open up on to views of the city and lake. Food was exceptional at night with great service. The cafe provides great coffee and wonderful desserts in an lovely atmosphere. Hotel staff are warm and friendly as well as accommodating. Thanks to Ana and staff for a memorable stay.

We just came back from our wedding and honeymoon in Granada at the Hotel Dario. I fell in love with its colonial style and atmosphere that made the reception of the wedding and honeymoon unforgetable!!! The person in the Hotel in charge of the events is Daysi Pilarte... she made everything available to plan the reception. I felt pampered, I did not feel I had to worry about final details because she took care of them.
We stayed at a beautiful suite where we found flowers and candles the night of the wedding and every morning the cleaning ladies would make swans and heart motifs made out of towels. The second floor offered a gorgeous view to the interior garden and fountain where we exchanged our vows.
The staff was extremely polite and always prompt with a genuine smile accross their faces every time we saw them. We had the chance to talk with some of them and concluded that overall Nicaraguans are extremely kind, sweet people. We were impressed by the Chef at the Hotel (Alex) and the menu for the reception: we had "Mar y Tierra" and Filet Mignon with parmesan rice, vegetables and two salads, exquisite choices!
When we left, we felt like we left a special place behind... when we headed to Costa Rica afterwards and the other hotels seemed to have been missing that personal touch we experienced at Hotel Dario . We will definetively go back for family reunions and special events at the Hotel Dario in Granada.

We stayed at the Hotel Dario for several nights and attended my brother's wedding there. The hotel is beautiful, exceptionally clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Daysi Pilarte is the events coordinator at Hotel Dario and she helped my brother and his wife organize a gorgeous wedding. Planning the whole event from the US could have been stressful but Daysi made everything perfect and beautiful. The rooms are huge, with dark wood accents and air conditioning, and ours had a balcony that overlooked the quaint little cobblestone street in front of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel with it's central courtyard, fountain, pool (small but refreshing), and volcano views, to anyone visiting Granada.
