“Love Granada and Plaza Colon is the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

As all I have seen is great reviews I will make this short. Excellent staff, location is perfect, rooms are comfortable and beautiful! Pool and breakfast area like an oasis. I love Granada what a beautiful city full of bright colors, friendly people and so much history. Enjoy your stay at Plaza Colon, I know that I will and cant wait to return!

Room Tip: A room away from the road is best. I wont say the street noise was overly loud as the rooms have thi...

Five-star treatment from the staff, Carlito, Denilo, the front desk even the bellhops. Immaculate rooms, comfortable beds, gorgeous pool and great buffet breakfast. Probably the best deal we've found traveling in Central America so far. If you want to see the beautiful city, have them arrange a tour for you, they'll pack a lunch and enjoy!
Our friends fly for JetBlue and they loved it.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, don't get the terrace overlooking the plaza.

A beautiful hotel. Very elegant with wonderful amenities, great location and an amazing breakfast buffet. We were glad to spend the extra $$. We were right on the main square where there is lots of action, but the inner courtyard was a beautiful oasis. Great experience.

Room Tip: ask for a room with balcony overlooking street - but book early if you want that.

Came to Nicaragua on business, and brought my wife to stay for an extra week. Stayed at the Hotel Plaza Colon in Granada and commuted to Managua for work. The hotel is great, small intimate, right on the Central Park. Very nice breakfast, staff is very friendly. Granada is low-key, but interesting with some things to do and good restaurants.

Did not get a car. The hotel arranged pickup at the airport for $35-- about 1 hour away from Managua and the airport. The car service took me to Managua for meetings. Round trip with three hours waiting was $60. My wife went on a five hour tour for $60 with car and driver who also was a guide.

This is a relatively new hotel and everything is in very good order. Very clean and fresh. I have also stayed at the Intercontinental in Managua which is a good hotel, but Granada is more interesting than Managua.

This is a lovely hotel overlooking the main plaza. The swimming pool is lovely to cool off in after sightseeing. Our room was not very large but everything worked well and there was plenty of hot water. The staff is very professional.
The breakfast was fine, not fantastic, but the setting by the pool is very pleasant.
The only thing that we did not like was sharing a balcony. Our room was part of a suite and unfortunately the neighbouring guest used the balcony chairs to hang his washing on.
Despite this we would certainly recommend this hotel especially as it has probably the best staff and location in Granada.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a balcony overlooking the plaza but insist on a private balcony.

I can't rave enough about the experience at the Hotel Plaza Colon- the pool area was beautiful, the breakfast was amazing, the staff through and through were awesome, and the rooms were incredibly comfortable right down to the nice little patio I had in the back for reading the newspaper in the morning.

It's a great place to stay and while there, good food is a little steak house on the small road behind the Cathedral (can't remember the name but someone at the hotel can point you to it) and then a place a couple blocks away called The Tercer Ojo was tasty food, and a great ambiance!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms that has the small patio in the back on the ground floor

We stayed at the Hotel Plaza Colon last month during our honeymoon, and we had the most wonderful experience. It was a true highlight of our trip, and we would love to go back to Nicaragua just to stay at the Plaza Colon. I cannot recommend it enough!

The hotel manages to feel luxurious but low-key and informal at the same time. The staff is warm, friendly, and thoughtful--they seem to genuinely care about their guests and enjoy their work. The service is excellent, but not obsequious. The breakfast is excellent, the rooms are clean and charming, and the views of the plaza are not to be missed. I requested a room with a view of the plaza--I expected it to be loud, but it was surprisingly quiet.

Plaza Colon is certainly not the cheapest hotel in Granada, but it is a great value. If you are planning a trip to Nicaragua, I suggest you extend your stay there and take day trips from Granada--the hotel is a wonderful place to come back to.

Everything about this hotel was first rate.
