“a must”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

The short climb to the top is well worth it though you won't be alone. We headed up right before sunset for a view of Granada and Mombacho. The breeze was a plus!

“Make sure to go up in bell tower!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

The Iglesia de La Merced is a beautiful church that is worth wandering through. But the best is the bell tower ... you can see all the way to Lake Nicaragua. Stunning roof top views of lots of classic colonial homes. Should be on everyone's list to see at least once if not more.

“History - with a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013 via mobile

A church with a lot of history. The architecture is wonderful. The climb to the bell tower an adventure in its self. The bell tower has a grate view of Granada. But it is not a place for those that have a fear of high places. We loved it.

“A view of the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Take a trip to this church and pay to walk up the (seems like) hundred steps to the church bell tower. For only a dollar you can have a magnificent view of the city and enjoy looking down over the town. The stair case isn't for the faint of heart. A long and twisted stair with rails is pretty safe but narrow and long. Keep that in mind when you head here. The church itself is pretty enough, though I think some of the smaller churches are prettier. But it is a piece of Granada history so it is worth the time especially for the view.

“Enjoyable climb and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Always fun to climb up the bell tower, enjoy the breezes, and look around. You can always see Vocan Mombacho and usually one or two of the volcanoes on Ometepe Island.
