We just spent 4 nights in this hotel and were delighted. My husband and I had one room and my daughter and partner had another. Both rooms were considered "deluxe" at $95/night. My daughter and partner weren't happy with the first room they got, thought it was too pink - "no problem", they got it changed. We needed to arrive a day earlier than planned, "no problem". We all needed to extend our trip a day, "no problem". Whatever we encountered - "no problem, we'll take care of it." When you are traveling in a country where you don't speak the language - "no problem" is music to your ears.
The front desk is top notch. Carina speaks 4 languages and Barbara speaks at least 3 that I know of. I only spoke to Mitch, the owner, in English but everything he told us was good advice. He's always hanging out in the open courtyard, and is more than willing to help you out. He even offered us a ride one day. These folks got us set up with Bosco who runs his own touring service and we were off to a great couple of days. We managed to pack so much into such a short time because of their wonderful coordination of everything.
The breakfasts are wonderful. We saw none of the problems the previous guest mentioned. I also should mention that our room was located 3 doors down from the one in their pictures and they neglected to take a picture of Mombachu, the volcano, that you could see in the distance from right outside their door. Our own room was large with a balcony on both the front and the back.
Between us we had 8 spa services. I am a massage junkie and I can only say that Julio is the best of the best. The spa room was clean and I didn't find the pool noise distracting at all - oh, maybe that's because I was so relaxed that I fell asleep.
The pool was nice with a lot of seating around it. All of the food and drinks we ordered were excellent and at a reasonable rate.
The location of the hotel was excellent, only a block away from the Central market area. While the street was busy, the noise was minimal. Whatever construction other reviewers referenced, seemed to be over because we didn't hear/see any. We all felt perfectly safe wandering around the area.
If you end up traveling to this little gem of a place, don't waste time with some of the private drivers who will offer you tours. Stick with Bosco, at the Euro Cafe. They''ll even call him and set up an appointment with him for you. We had some ideas, he had some ideas, and he managed to put them all together into 3 very interesting days. He just knows how to add those extra little touches to his trips that make them memorable. I will always remember him luring Lucy, a monkey, onto our boat when we were boating around Las Isletas. This is a man who knows the area, gives a fair rate, and is just plain fun to hang out with. We also traveled a bit with Daniel, one of his drivers, and he too was wonderful. I'm going to try to add a picture of my husband who is 67 year old, zip lining with Bosco!
My advice for anyone who stays here - if you have a problem, tell them and they'll take care of it. Take advantage of their willness to share their insights into the community. If they say a restaurant is good, it probably is. They know the area, believe the if they say it will take 45 minutes to get you to the airport. Relax, enjoy and don't worry about drinking the water, it's fine!
