We spent 4 nights here in a deluxe room, which had been recommended by another TripAdvisor reviewer. I think upgrading to a deluxe room was worth the extra money, our room was very large, comfortable, and overlooked the second courtyard. The only complaint I had was that although the bathroom was very nicely done with murals painted on the walls, a nice sink and stone "tiled" shower, the sink and shower fixtures were simply PVC pipes with valves on them - not at all in line with the rest of the room. It may be that they are still finishing refurbishing the room and did not have the fixtures yet to install, but they looked pretty permanent.
The rest of the hotel is vey nice, you just have to be aware that it is a work in progress. When the owner purchased it 5 years ago it was in disrepair and he is slowly working on renovating the entire building (5+ courtyards). So far what has been finished looks good. The pool is wonderful and a nice oasis in the middle of Granada. The spa was also great, the woman who gave me a massage was excellent. Everything was clean and up to date.
The staff was very helpful. There was a problem with our transfer from the airport in Managua when we first arrived, but the staff took care of it and more than compensated us for the inconvenience we experienced. They were quite helpful in suggesting things to see, restaurants to visit, and general information about the city.
Breakfast was very good - just don't plan on everything being ready when it opens at 7:00, remember you are on Nica time.
