“Big hostel, meet lots of people, free pancakes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I stayed here while visiting Granada and the staff was always willing to help, had answers, helped me book day trips to surrounding places and very friendly! Great hostel to meet other travlers. I really enjoyed the city of Granada lots of cool places near by to visit the oat tour of the Islets, Lago de Apoyo is a must too! I really enjoyed the pool at Oasis it gets pretty Hot in this city! So it was refreshing to chill in the pool especially at night!

I had a single room, although I usually take dorm/cheapest option. But the price wasnt much different and I wanted space to throw out the messy bag from long travel.

Free coffee and a swimming pool took care of the tiredness. On the roof there in a place for washing laundry (tap water, sink and lines under the sun to dry quickly.) Very welcome after washing in river water in the south...

There is a fridge and kitchen. And the breakfast with fruit and all you xan eat pancakes is also good for a few days.

The single room gets hot, but if you close just the moskito net and not the door and turn on the fan, it' OK for the night... During the day you stay by the pool or in the hammocs anyway...

The only bad side was, that the breakfast noise wakes you up, if your room is near breakfast kitchen...

For me this was the most comfortable hostal of all Nicaragua.

Hostel Oasis gets the majority of backpackers through Granada, and they probably deserve it.

Good- great breakfast as unlimited and nice. Free tea/ coffee all day. Pool (if shallow) rare for Granada.
Free water refills and stocked fridge on top. Staff helpful (if not outrageously friendly). Decent value.

Negatives: could be noisey, depends on those staying at the time.
Room was a bit pokey and hot.
Not very mosquito proof rooms either.

I would still recommend it though, just ask for a room away from common areas

This hostel was the best one I have ever stayed at! I felt secure because people at the front desk had to let people in, you couldn't just walk in. After losing our keys (they were stolen) to the lockers in the shared dorm, the employees were really nice about giving us new keys. The bunk beds were really sturdy, and the ceilings were high so you can comfortably sit up in the top and bottom bunk. The pool area was super nice, and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. The computers were reliable, and it was nice that they were equipped with skype. There was a fridge with drinks, like soda water and beer, and none of it was expensive. The filtered water station to fill up water bottles was nice too, and the hostel itself was cool because if you don't know where it is, you walk right past it because it is just a little door but once inside it is this huge place with lots of room, its like you are transported from Granada into a little resort. I went with friends but it was family and kid friendly; I saw several families with young children, one must have been under 3 years old.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet stay, get a private room. If you want cheap and you plan to go out at night anyw...

The washrooms and showers alone are one reason to stay at Oasis, the cleanest and most modern I've ever seen in a hostel. What spoiled it for me was the level of noise, which didn't abate till midnight. Guys are sitting around the pool drinking. I stayed just one night and later emailed the manager to complain about the noise. I received a courteous reply, asking who was on duty the night I spent there. Oasis seems better maintained than your typical hostel, but the "pool" is ridiculously shallow and tiny. Last time I checked, a few weeks ago, they were charging $9 for a dorm bed, which is really a lot, and this was in the off-season.

It's a big hostel so does not have the friendly charm of some smaller places but it benefits from excellent management. Clear systems and benefits (easy to sign up for tours and shuttles, links with other businesses, free water refills, free breakfast, clean swimming pool, quiet time enforced, loads of computers, 10 mins of free calls...). The rooms are a bit variable - I was there for two different stays as I took advantage of their excellent Laguna de apoyo link. Privates without bathroom are very dark and in a dingiest part of the hostel. (Clean and practical though) Privates with bathroom are really bright and lovely above the pool! Both rooms have all you need though, and I didn't stay in a dorm but they looked nicely situated. My only complaint would be cleaning - the shared kitchen was horrible! I went to put something in the fridge and a mouse crawled out of it! Other than that well-equipped, helpful and lots of opportunity to meet people.

I enjoyed my 4 night stay very much. The hostel supplies free drinking water, a unique pool setup, plenty of hammocks restrooms and showers, and a nice little garden area. Wifi on both sides of the hostel, unique floor plan design. I'd stay there again for sure!
