“Super family hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

Xalteva is a wonderful spot. We stayed here for three nights with our boys ages 7 and 10 and highly recommend it! The living space is open, high ceilings and very nicely appointed. Kitchen was big and very nice. Good AC. The staff was super friendly and thoughtful, very sweet. Pool is excellent, our boys had a blast in it. Quiet street, quiet neighborhood was nice. Easy walk to town center. The manager Melissa is a gem! An American who has been living in Granada for a long time, she gave us excellent advice on what to do, and what not to bother with. She has a young boy so she understood what our boys would like. She arranged us a car and driver to masaya who was excellent and suggested the Paraiso beach resort on Apoyo which was really fun. Our boys played soccer in the street in front of the hotel with local kids in the evening.

Room Tip: We stayed in lower level and it was great. Upper level looked even better with balcony.

Clean, nicely appointed, ample and fully accessorized apt./suites, made for home-away-from-home comfort. Friendly, accommodating staff hosted our two-month stay with grace. We made breakfasts in and occasional other meals at whim; ate out at a plethora of good to excellent restaurants within an easy walk. Large and beautiful sparkling clean pool (essential in Granada) with shaded sitting/hammock patio-garden capped off the comfort quotient. We felt we'd made a perfect choice.
Our only caveat concerned neighborhood dogs barking at night. But that problem may apply to every place in Granada?

Room Tip: We liked our second floor balcony location overlooking the pool and Mombacho in the background.

My husband and I currently live in Chinandega, Nicaragua. We have visited many hotels in our time here in Nicaragua and I am being completely honest with you when I say that this is the best hotel I have stayed at here in Nicaragua and quite possibly on any vacation that I've been on. We had two friends in from the U.S. that were staying with us and they loved it just as much as we did. We loved that it was quaint and personal (not big resort style) yet luxurious all at the same time, and just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the downtown tourist area. The rooms are beautiful and well-equipped and the pool and bar area are gorgeous. They also offer coupons for local spots in town and were able to help us schedule some services at a local spa with a discounted price!

I think by far the best part of the stay was the staff there. Everyone from the manager Melissa, the front desk staff, cleaning ladies, security guards, and maintenance men were some of the friendliest, most helpful people that I've ever met. They went above and beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our stay.

We have an upcoming trip with another couple coming down to visit us from the U.S. and we had booked our hotel elsewhere, but after staying here we decided to cancel our other reservation and return to Xalteva.

If you are visiting Granada please do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel!

We are touched...all of our staff enjoyed reading your review. When a guest enjoys their stay it makes us proud that we were the ones to have been able to attend you. We are even prouder when guests such as you return as it is a sort of homecoming, a reunion among friends and family. Thank you for having made our day.

We spent just 2 nights in mid March. We loved the hotel, with its friendly, smiling staff and helpful and accommodating office staff. The rooms were spotless and large and the pool a lovely respite from the heat. It was about a 15 minute walk to the main square on a quiet street, away from the hustle and bustle. We didn't make use of the kitchen but it seemed well set up. They provide a light breakfast of fruit, a pastry and coffee which you can eat down by the pool. One small complaint - the beds were very firm (hard). However, we would definitely stay here again.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Xalteva, from March 14th through to the 20th. The hotel more than met our needs and expectations. Melissa was an excellent host along with the rest of the staff. We have absolutely no complaints, and would have no hesitation to recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for a week in February 2014. The location to all the sites and activities is excellent. The condos are new, spacious and have everything you need for your stay. The staff are friends and very helpful. The front desk staff can arrange your excursions and they refer you to the best service providers. The tours and taxis were always waiting and we're very professional. The fruit and coffee in the morning were a welcome surprise. The pool is there for a quick dip in the hot after noon. I recommend this place to anyone traveling to Nicaragua.

Together with another couple we stayed two nights in Granada on our way to other areas of Nica. Never having been there before, we really had no idea what to expect. From the moment Giovanni fetched us at the airport in Managua until we left to continue our journey it was such a pleasure. Fatima was in consistent contact with us prior to our arrival to coordinate aspects of the stay. When we arrived late on Thursday evening we felt that everyone was waiting for us and the accommodations were terrific (We were assigned to Suite 101) - comfortable, spotless and homey. In the morning we had a lovely breakfast under the arbor at the pool and Fatima was immediately on hand to help us plan our short stay there. We toured the Masaya Market, had a city tour in a horse drawn carriage (Gustavo is a wonderful tour guide) and, that evening went to the Masaya volcano for a night tour. All so interesting. The hotel staff - Ivania, Maria, Jenniffer were more than attentive to our needs. Melissa oversees the operation with quiet leadership and makes you feel that everything is under control - even when we had some worries about delayed transportation to our next location. This is a fantastic accommodation at a very reasonable price. Next time we will stay longer!
