“Great find in Granada if you don't need to be right on the square”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We rented a 2 bed/bath during November 2012. I found our place on vrbo.com. It was a great price, and had the perfect amount of space for our family. Their customer service is fantastic - the owner, Jay, answerd all of my questions before arrival extremely quickly, and the staff on site was equally helpful. Our unit was beautifully furnished and extremely clean. It can be a bit noisy in the morning (you are in a residential area, so not their fault if neighbor's dog is barking, child crying, etc), but I sort of expect noise unless I am staying in a conventional hotel, so this was not an issue for us.

It is a bit of a walk from the main restaurant area, but really not that far at all, and if you are walking home after dark, a taxi is only a few bucks. My only very minor complaint (which would not in any way deter me from staying there again) is that there seems to be some confusion as to what should be thrown away in the guest rooms (my razor and soap, and my father's cap to his razor were thrown away by the cleaning staff). There seemed to be suprise I would leave them out in the shower as they might be mistaken as trash (they did offer to replace it but I just went and found a replacement myself as I wasn't looking to experience what a cheap razor might feel like and did not know what they would produce ....). Anyway, if that is the biggest problem one has on vacation, life is not too bad!

Highly recommend!

Dear Valued Guest,
We are so happy that you and your parents enjoyed your stay with us and we appreciate your comments. We hope you had a nice time on the Island tour with Oro Travel that we arranged as well as our recommendations for activities such as dinner at Hotel Dario for their Friday Night, "Viernes Tipico" and PURE spa services. Our staff felt very badly about having thrown away your razor and we had not heard about the other items. We would have loved to have had the opportunity to buy another similar or identical razor for you at the major local supermarkets which was discussed on the same day we realized our error in throwing it away but you choose not to have us purchase a new one or any razor for that matter. We have spoken to our highly attentive staff so that this does not happen again. Thank you so much and we hope that you stay with us again in the future.

My husband and I are staying at the condos for an extended time with our two year old twin girls. We have greatly enjoyed our stay so far. The staff are helpful and accommodating, as well as patient with our poor Spanish-speaking skills. The staff have bent over backwards to plan trips, answer questions, run errands and help with our girls. We would recommend these condos to families, couples or anyone looking for a warm-hearted, welcoming environment during their stay in Granada.

My husband and I spent the entire month of February 2012 in Granada, staying at Condo Hotel Xalteva and had a great time. I would highly recommend this hotel as the best place to stay in Granada, especially for longer term rentals. We had never been to Nicaragua before but were looking for a warm winter getaway (we live in New England) where we could also study Spanish. We were glad we chose Granada and decided to stay at Hotel Xalteva....it was the perfect location for our visit. We didn't need a car and could walk everywhere around town.....the Parque Central was only 6-7 blocks away. If we got tired of walking, we could always take a cab for only 40 cents each anywhere in town. For sightseeing in outlying areas, we hired a driver at very reasonable rates.

Hotel Xalteva is a small 8-unit complex built recently and owned by a retired innkeeper from Vermont. He and his wife are charming and gracious hosts, and the whole staff is excellent....very friendly and helpful. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit was modern, clean, comfortable and well-equipped and worked well when we had friends visit for a week. It had plenty of space, air conditioning, WiFi and all the amenities we wanted. In addition there was a lovely pool just outside our door and breakfast was served every morning by the pool. We liked being in a place where we could meet other travelers and also have concierge-type services....very helpful when you don't know the country or the language.

Room Tip: Second floor units have the best views and breezes

Thank you very much for your kind words. We greatly appreciate our guests and we offer a variety of concierge services. We can recommend local restaurants and activities as well as arrange tours, transport, language lessons and volunteer opportunities. Currently we have an additional offering, Unit 209 is now available for renting and has a newly completed loft bedroom. We hope to see you again at the Condos and look forward to serving you!

I have lived full time and Condo Hotel Xalteva for 4 years now with only a few months away. This is the best place to stay in Granada if you are looking for quality, excellent customer care and a great sense of tranquility.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are the same. Some are closer to the pool but the others are only a few feet away.

A new standard for hotel concierge excellence can be seen at the Hotel Xalteva. The staff consistently worked over and above to ensure our stay was safe, comfortable and pleasurable. The staff was very friendly and worked with a high degree of integrity. This was our first trip to Nicaragua. We only knew a few words of Spanish however many of the staff members spoke English. They made arrangements for whatever activities we desired (including taking Spanish lessons). The hotel truly is an oasis in the desert. Every day and even throughout the day we saw staff continually cleaning the hotel grounds and tending to the gardens. The internet photos of the hotel only provide a glimpse of what to expect when you arrive. We strongly recommend visitors to stay at the hotel because we firmly believe Xalteva is the best hotel in Granada.

You are so kind and we value your business. Casa Nica Spanish School is a great school to attend while visiting Granada. They can come to your home, hotel, or condominium and give private classes. While staying at Condo Hotel Xalteva you can practice your Spanish with our friendly staff who love to work with each guest. All staff are professional, highly qualified and trustworthy and we assure you that you will not regret your decision to stay with us.

When my nephew was baptized we had the after party at Xalteva. The staff went above and beyond to make the event an ideal conclusion to a busy morning. The food was in great abundance and in high demand by our party, the surroundings were classically Nicaraguan and the staff felt like an extension of our family (minus typical family drama ;-) There were about 15 people in our group ranging from infants to the elderly. The venue had a pool for the kids and and a cabana for the adults (fit with natural shade from the vines and trees growing around us). What surprised me the most is the cleanliness of the Hotel and it's facilities. Grenada is a fun city but is often dusty, hot and cluttered; Xalteva was an oasis we didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: Any room on the second floor is great. The view alone is worth it. If you don't like the heat...

Yes, you are correct. Xalteva is great for families. Whether you are a large family or a small family, Xalteva is a perfect place for your family to be together. Our pool and common areas provide enough space to enjoy each others company while meeting other guests. For families with small children, our location is safe and secure and we can close our front wooden doors for your comfort and peace of mind. If you wish to have a luncheon or small event while staying with us our staff can help you arrange your event too!

I visited the Hotel for the first time while visiting my sister who lives in Nicaragua. They took me there and I had a great time. The second floor has views of the volcano. The pool was great, very clean and the staff was very friendly. I even had a chance to practice my Spanish although a lot of the staff spoke English.

We are so glad you came to visit us while in Nicaragua. Our staff likes to help our guests practice Spanish and equally loves to learn English. While enjoying your stay with us we can help you arrange not only Spanish classes but also drawing and painting, mosaic, and cigar rolling classes. There is also a local gym that offers a 5 day free membership to all of our guests as well as a discount on spa services. While a guest here various Granada businesses have extended special discounts on their products and services. Hope to see you back again in Nicaragua soon.
