“Home away from home”

Hotel Terrasol

My husband and I have just come back from a holiday in Granada, Nicaragua and our choice of hotel could not have been better.
Victor and Katya lived in the USA and Costa Rica for over 15 years before returning to their home country. They fully understand the needs of their guests and during our stay they ensured that we felt 100% at home.
The staff at Terrasol completely goes out of their way to provide visitors with an unique experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable with air conditioning, hair dryer and the breakfast is delicious. It can get a little bit noisy, but that is Granada!.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Thank you both for an unforgettable experience.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Terrasol. After some hiccups in San Juan Del Sur, we were so relieved to arrive at this gem. The rooms are very cute (ask for the ones with the balcony) and extremely clean. Victor and Katya lived in San Francisco for a while, but are Nicraguan/Costa Rican, so the Hotel is blend of both styles. They made us feel right at home, the restaurant is wonderful, and they have really put a lot of time and care into their hotel.

The most wonderful part for us though was the artwork hanging throughout the hotel. We asked about it, and it turns out everything was painted in Granada, so Victor gave us directions to the artist's studio and we got to buy wonderful paintings right off the wall. Victor even stopped by to check on us while we were in mid-purchase. This is a wonderful hotel - I highly recommend it!

I have to echo all the other wonderful things that have been written here about Hotel Terrasol. I booked it for my husband and I based on the reviews of the restaurant and looking at their website. The owners have created a very small, welcoming, charming hotel that feels like it is in a restored colonial mansion (although it was built by the owners from the ground up.) The room was not large, but was perfectly adequate and clean: comfortable bed, TV, AC, lock box with a key, and we even had a balcony that looked over the street and up to the volcano. There was no hot water, but the last thing we wanted after trudging around in the heat was a warm shower. The restaurant was fabulous. The chef is the former executive chef of a gourmet supermarket chain in the Bay Area, California. He has created a menu that is California cuisine reinvented with fresh, local, Nicaraguan ingredients. Try the pasta with octopus, the chicken with rum and papaya, pork with sour orange and cilantro, and do not forget the chocolate terrine for dessert! After mountains of rice and beans in Costa Rica, finding this place was like stumbling into heaven – and we didn't eat anywhere else while in Granada! On top of this, the prices were very reasonable, and everyone who worked at the hotel was very friendly and pleasant. The breakfast was also quite good. My husband and I are already plotting our return to Granada so we can stay at Hotel Terrasol again.

We stayed one night at Hotel Terrasol and really enjoyed it! The two Nicaraguan owners speak English very well and were very helpful to us. The hotel is clean, safe and well decorated. Breakfast was included (fresh baked croissant and fruits... delicious!) and the price was very reasonable. The only hiccup was that there was no hot water, however the water temperature was fairly comfortable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a peaceful stay in Granada.

“Boutique Excellence”

Hotel Terrasol

May 27, 2008

If you´re after a friendly, comfortable, clean, safe and affordable place to stay in colonial Granada, Hotel Terrasol is sure to tick every box. Located just a few minutes walk from the centre of Granada, the Terrasol has 10 double rooms equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms and cable tv. Run by husband and wife team Victor and Katya Chamorro, both of whom have extensive experience in the food business, it also boasts an excellent restaurant. If you plan to learn Spanish while in Granada, the hotel is just three blocks from the Casa Xalteva School and offers discount rates to longer-stay students.
