I have to echo all the other wonderful things that have been written here about Hotel Terrasol. I booked it for my husband and I based on the reviews of the restaurant and looking at their website. The owners have created a very small, welcoming, charming hotel that feels like it is in a restored colonial mansion (although it was built by the owners from the ground up.) The room was not large, but was perfectly adequate and clean: comfortable bed, TV, AC, lock box with a key, and we even had a balcony that looked over the street and up to the volcano. There was no hot water, but the last thing we wanted after trudging around in the heat was a warm shower. The restaurant was fabulous. The chef is the former executive chef of a gourmet supermarket chain in the Bay Area, California. He has created a menu that is California cuisine reinvented with fresh, local, Nicaraguan ingredients. Try the pasta with octopus, the chicken with rum and papaya, pork with sour orange and cilantro, and do not forget the chocolate terrine for dessert! After mountains of rice and beans in Costa Rica, finding this place was like stumbling into heaven – and we didn't eat anywhere else while in Granada! On top of this, the prices were very reasonable, and everyone who worked at the hotel was very friendly and pleasant. The breakfast was also quite good. My husband and I are already plotting our return to Granada so we can stay at Hotel Terrasol again.
