“A perfect paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

I and my bf stayed in this resort on the first week of October and I was amazed of the place, upon checked in, a Filipino (guy) front desk staff welcome us with his beautiful smile together with a welcome drink. He guided us to our room (De luxe Suite) and informed us with the hotel's facilities and amenities.

The room - A spacious one with a nice bathroom and design.

The pool - I love it.

See you on our next trip.

We have a wonderful holiday in The Dewa Resort and Spa, a perfect paradise for me and my hubby.

i was just back from the dewa koh chang with four of my friends after spending a week there. everything was just wonderful. the front desk staffs were soooo helpful. we were staying on the second floor in the deluxe room. all the amenities and what we need are just there. the black shiney smimming pool is just great including the pool attendants. the beach is just private no street vendors walking around just the hotel guests which there were not so many during our stay. the breakfast is just all set with plenty of choices. would like to say our gang were just having the really good memories and experiences over there in Koh Chang at the dewa. the only one thing was just the rain that we needed to skip our snockling trips. we would highly reckon the place if you wanna get your hideaway in style.......

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

My fiancee and I stayed at the Dewa for a two night stay in September 2011.

We flew from Bangkok to Trat Airport and took the minibus service offered at the airport directly to the hotel which includes ferry trip (would recommend this service, it is more expensive - almost double i think - then if you were to get flag your own ride to the ferry, buy a ticket on the ferry and then flag another ride to your hotel, but it is much more convenient and a comfortable ride).

Upon arrival, we were greeted by nice staff members and got a nice cool drink served to us while we checked in. Our rooms weren't ready yet and had to wait about 30 mins while they were prepped. The lobby and pool are very nice and unique design which give the hotel it's own unique atmosphere.

When we finally got our room (a villa, which offers more privacy then the standard rooms near the pool) it was a nice set up. Others have commented about the room design, however I liked it. The villa was circular room and the design is different but still very comfortable. The air conditioning was loud though and it does point right at the bed which can be annoying.

The wireless signal at our room was great and I had no problem connecting to the internet (I read other reviews that mentioned the wireless was no good). The TV channels weren't great for english speaking guests though.

We ate most of our meals at the resort and overall the food was a bit above average. Breakfast buffet was pretty standard and done pretty good, and the lunch/dinner menus do offer a good selection and were tasty enough to satisfy. Speed of service is hit or miss though. Our dinner the first night came quick and was good, but lunch the next day at the beach restaurant (when we were the ONLY two guests) for some reason took over 30 mins.

While we were there the beach wasn't much to look at. Admittedly it was low season and it was cloudy and windy most of the time, but it didn't seem like the beach was as cracked up to be. A short walk along the beach didn't turn up much else either. Would rather spend most of the time poolside instead which is odd.

The weather also prevented us from doing a jungle excursion as well, but the staff did try to offer up other excursions instead...some that we weren't that interested in even. We did sign up for the cooking class through the dewa at Blue Lagoon Cooking school however. They will pick you up from the hotel and drive you there but in reality you can walk there via the beach. For non-adventurous ppl I'd recommend the class! The food is great and the teacher is really sweet! Good for rainy days. We booked through the Dewa for 1500 baht, but it can be had for cheaper if you book directly with Blue Lagoon.

Also got a couple massages at the spa which was nice. We got them for a deal (low season again) and it is a good way to relax if you've had a long day. The main lady was really nice and sweet and treats you very well. The assistant however answered her cell phone at one point which was kinda unprofessional. They offer some nice tea and fruits after your massage as well which was a nice touch.

Overall this is a hotel with potential and with a few small touches it can be much better. Small details can make the difference. Like some of the sheets in our rooms had some stains and the pillows were worn. It doesn't really make a difference to me in the end but does kind of take away from the luxury of the room. We talked to the new manager on our way out (he was actually on our flight from Bangkok to Trat) and he seemed like he was keen on making the Dewa a great place.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights after spending a week at Samet Villas on Koh Samet.

First the positives: Really nice clean spacious hotel, good reception area, nice staff, great swimming pool area and the breakfasts are fantastic. The Hotel is very well looked after and has lots of staff who cannot do enough for you.

The Negatives: The air conditioning is useless, and only goes down to 16 degrees and even if you leave it on full the room never gets cold or cool and its unbelievably noisy. The rooms look nice and are well maintained, the room design is flawed as the bathroom is in a corridor which runs the length of the room with the shower at one end and the bath at the other end??? The shower is no where near powerful enough and we ended up using the over bath shower head in the main bath as this was at least powerful so the main shower was rendered completely useless.....and the bed is in the middle of the room and the room lighting is awful so you feel like your in the dark!

We went to the main beach-front restaurant on our first night and we ordered three main courses and waited almost an hour, which was annoying in itself, but when we inquired and the food eventually arrived it was stone cold! we told the service staff, who then took the food away and 20 minutes later the food arrived again and it was still Luke-warm ........needless to say we complained and got the manager over and after much humorous discussion and flapping about by the staff we paid for the drinks and left.

We never ate at the restaurant again throughout the trip (Would You have Done!) but i must say this was an isolated incident and the breakfast buffet was excellent and the service was superb.

The hotel is in a good location and right on the beach which is great for walking on with a few nice islands in view.

Overall, a decent hotel which is very clean well looked after with good staff and a fantastic swimming pool..........Its only let down by the strange room design poor air-conditioning and the shower/bathroom set up that seems to have been designed by a clown.

Room Tip: Good Hotel, Nice swimming pool, good location, let down by poor air conditioning and a stupid room d...

Dear BITTERBLUE,
First of all I would like to thank you on behalf of the entire team at “The Dewa” for you recent comment about your vacation with us. We consider all the feedback received from our guests very seriously for both motivating our staff and improving in the areas where necessary.
We thank you for you kind comments about the friendliness of our staff and some of our hotel facilities including our much appreciated pool and the proximity to the beach. We are sorry to hear that your recent stay didn’t meet all your expectation, but we’d like to consider that the bad experience you had was indeed an isolated one and we apologize for that sincerely wishing we will have the chance to prove ourselves in a different way at the time of your return. We are also considering your comments regarding our room comfort and we are trying to sort out these minor flaws with solutions limited though to some engineering, architectural and landscaping possibilities.
We are looking forward to be at your service in the future and we will make sure your experience will be a delightful one.

Kind Regards,
The Dewa – Koh Chang, MANAGEMENT

We arrived at this HOTEL at 9 p.m after a long Journey from Athens-Bangkok then by car to Ko Chang and the Hotel. Even though, the Hotel could not find our Booking( due to some communication error between, local and abroad travel agents), they gave us the room and assured showed deep compasion. Waliking through a rooms door, you see true asian style decor, feng sui everywhere and lighting to suit every mood. If you want somewhere to truly relax and let that asian atmosphere sink in, this is the Hotel for it. The staff is amazingly helpful, kind and the Spa is a notch up from what you get outside the hotel but worth every Bhat! A resort, yet homly. Spacious, yet romantically cozy. Super clean rooms and surroundings and a stunning beach and pool.

We thank you for you kind comments about our staff and our hotel décor, facilities and cleanliness. Our hotel has indeed a very distinct architecture which combines contemporary styles with the more traditional and rustic lines of SE Asia.
