I can echo the previous reviews. This is a great location and our standard room was fine - with a good view through palms to the beach. The gardens are well kept and the beach and pool are very nice. the lack of chairs was annoying - but that isn't really the hotel's fault - more due to selfishness of some guests. I must admit to 'annexing' a couple of loungers that hadn't been sat on for hours. You got the feeling that they were trying very hard but not quite getting a grip. Food and drinks were good value. The nearby 'town' is pretty disappointing - just a row of tacky shops and restaurants which weren't that great. They are modernising the hotel so maybe next year thry'll have cracked it.

We stayed at this place in Jan 06 and I agree with a lot of the points made in the review submitted on 1/4/06. Mainly the staff, including the front desk, spoke very little, if any English. This was quite frustrating. Also it seems the early birds get the worm, or the nice lounge chairs. Showing up after breakfast meant a bad chair in a bad spot. Some people hold on to their chair for the entire day while not around for half of it.

The description of our standard cottage was a bit misleading. We thought since it was a cottage that it was an independent unit. Actually a standard cottage is comprised of three rooms. Since we were on the first floor, we could clearly hear the guests above us walking around and every noise was loud. The bathroom was in bad shape. It had a sewage like smell and bad ventilation. The tub was strangely placed and does not drain properly. There is also a huge ugly pipe sticking out underneath it. The toilet didn't have much flush power so take care of your business carefully. It is kind of difficult to get into town and it's a small town.

The beach is the highlight of this place. The water is calm and clear and the beach is soft and sandy, not rocky. There is also a nice pool. You can rent kayakes but do it before 5pm, everything shuts down early.

The hotel charges guests the same rate for a car to the Trat airport as any other carrier which is not fair. It seems this place was designed well in a superficial way but somehow the details were later neglected.

We stayed at the Seaview for 6 nights over Xmas. The resort is overall very nice with very well attended gardens. They are extending it at present and there are some building works which did not bother us.
We had booked a deluxe cottage facing the sea and were not disappointed with the view. The very clean 'deluxe cottage' was not up to its name though and quite overpriced.
Although the resort is not far from the next village,it first appeared quite difficult to escape. We would have had to pay 100 bht for the resort taxi service if we had not found a shortcut by the beach but you need a torch and low tide. It is nice to be able to try other restaurants and do some shopping. It is easy to come back with supplies of drinks by shared taxi from the village.
the lack of loungers near the pool and the beach was a problem. Sadly, it was the case of first with towels around 7.30 am for the desired spot. One learns quickly!
The staff speak very poor english and the service at the restaurant was not brilliant: dishes coming at different times for all the guests, getting cold before the rice arrived, orders forgotten but the food was good and not terribly expensive.
There is no tour desk or leaflets to pick up and not much help if you want to do anything outside the resort and that by lack of communication mainly. You can do it yourself though if you have a guidebook or if you go to the village.
Overall, there is a general lack of organisation: this could be a super place with excellent situation.
We still enjoyed our stay and Koh Chang is beautiful. It is cheap to rent a car and drive around. There are still some secluded beaches but they are hard to find.
