We arrived at the hotel and checked-in, and then they showed us our room, big shock!!! dirty bathroom with a hole in the ceiling full of cobwebs and dust, and seeing as we choose to book this hotel and pay more to not have any bugs in our room, bingo we got want we didn't want. So after visiting 5 other rooms and nearly leaving they managed to find us a room with no hole but still cobwebs in the bathroom, which we asked them to clean.

So then we went for a swim and had a nice meal, we decided to go to bed after such a long day traveling to get to Koh Chang. And then the music started at the bar and the beach next door, BUM BUM BUM until 2 in the morning and this we had to put up with for the 10 days we stayed.

We said we would like to leave after 9 days, and they said no problem but we would still have to pay the 10th day. l have travelled all over the world and never have any hotel been like this. And on the last day we got up really early so happy to leave to get the taxi to get the ferry at 10h00. So at 8h30 after our check

we waited in front of the hotel until 10h00 to be able to get a taxi and of course missed our ferry. A big thanks to the hotel for the information about the taxis only starting at 9h00 and always beeing full.

Having travelled to various places in Thailand, this resort actually didn't impress me at all. In the first place, I made a mistake to choose this resort located in Bai Lan Bay (Lonely Beach). It is a long way away from other restaurants. It is impossible for you walk in a complete darkness to have dinner somewhere else other than resort restaurant. You would be risking being hit by car/motocycle when you tried to go out walking the road at night. Fortunately, there is a beach restaurant just adjacent to the resort. My husband and I ate there for lunch and dinner. One thing I would like to say is for those who are fans for tranquility, it is a good choice and they can enjoy themselves staying in the resort. Buffet breakfast provided is simple though but should suffice the guests. As I said we had to stay in resort at night, we've seen 5 movies DVD, which were borrowed from the resort free of charge, in 2 night/3 days trip.

Bhumiyama Beach Resort is arguably one of the better resorts on the island, but it does have some failings. We stayed there during August - rainy season - for this reason it was VERY cheap and there were very few people around. The weather was cloudy and rainy, but very warm as you might expect.

The staff are absolutely lovely - as you might expect in a good Thai resort. It's location isn't for everyone. It's on a very quiet little patch of Lonely Beach and quite cut off from the busier parts. That may suit if you are happy just to relax etc. However, it makes it a little awkward if you want to explore the other parts of the beach / numerous restaurants in the vicinity. You CAN book a taxi or walk, if you don't mind walking up a few hills!

The gardens are absolutely beautiful and the pools are arguably the best of all the resorts. As we extended our stay (in a different resort) we actually visited a further 4 resorts on Lonely Beach. I can confirm that it has the best pool!

However, although the rooms were great, the air con didn't work and we ended up staying in 3 different rooms during a 3 day break there! Rather shockingly, the food is very poor in the restaurant. Very little Thai food and a strange breakfast menu - steak and onions anyone?! Unsurprisingly most people are quick to discover the excellent food next door! Take a right at the beach, and literally next to the resort you have a fantastic resort restaurant, complete with a funky little club, fire juggling displays, PEOPLE and everything you might want for a perfect Thai island evening. I would definitely suggest staying at the Bhumiyama Beach Resort and eating next door - this really would give you the best of both.

For our final 2 nights, we decided to stay in one of the more top end beach 'huts' about half a km away on lonely beach. It made for a different experience, with a much better patch of beach and a finer choice of eating places. I don't regret staying at the Bhumiyama Beach Resort, but there is a lot to be said about booking a couple of nights and seeing what else might suit you. Although the tranquility and privacy of the beach is great, there is a much finer stretch of beach half a km away and sadly, it s quite difficult to reach from the resort as the tide tends to cut it off.

Not to sure about the resort when we first arrived as there was music playing next door until 3.30 in the morning. But after that it was very peaceful. The beach is absolutely beautiful, so clear and clean. The resort itself is starting to get old but rooms where ok and clean. The area around lonely beach is great there are a lot of cheap restaurants around. There are a family of monkeys at the front entrance that like to be fed in the mornings. We were looked after very well by Alec (staff member) around the pool he couldn't do enough for us. I would recommend this resort to any traveler.

We loved our stay at Bhumiyama!

It is set in beautiful tropical gardens and the property goes right to the beach. The pool area was lovely - two pools connected by a waterfall and stairs, plus a spa. Lots of loungers and the staff came by with fruit and cool flannels every so often. The breakfast was outstanding, a great range of western and asian food. The restaurant was a bit pricy for Lonely Beach, but you do expect the resort restaurant to be a bit more expensive than the village. The beach at Lonely Beach was great - white sand and still plenty of beach at high tide.

We stayed in the cheap rooms and they were spacious and beautifully decorated. The balcony had plenty of room for us to sit outside with a drink in the evenings. I fell in love with Bhumiyama after looking at their website and was not disapointed. The only downside was the leaking airconditioner. We did tell them about it and someone did come and fix it, but 2 days later it was leaking again. The staff were very friendly.

Overall, I would love to stay at Bhumiyama again and totally recommend it.
