This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the Amari on Koh Chang, and although it was nice being personally welcomed back by the manager, a room upgrade to a sea view would have been nice, especially as it was nowhere near full occupancy?
The hotel itself is still top notch, with one of the best beaches and views in the area.
The pool initially still looks magnificent, but scratch beneath the surface (or look in the water with goggles) and it is in desperate need of a good clean. Bird mess and rotting vegetation litter the bottom of the pool.
The staff themselves are all pleasant and friendly, but confusion surrounds the 2 restaurants in the evening, with too many menus and nobody seems to know what is being served, in which restaurant and on what night?
An excellent buffet breakfast each morning, but why serve the bacon cold, I will never know?
I will not be returning to Koh Chang in the near future due to the poor way that the locals are treating the island. Disposing of rubbish by the lorry load at the side of the road is doing them no favours, and they will be the first to complain when tourists stop going!
