“Lovely and affordable. Perfect for a romantic thai island getaway.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

We stayed at The Sunflower in a beautiful, clean, and inexpensive bungalow that was only a few minutes walk from a great beach (Lonely Beach, which turned out to be my favorite on Koh Chang). I don't know if it was standard in all of their bungalows or not, but ours also had hot water and air conditioning.

The staff was helpful when we asked questions about things to do, and also were able to make arrangements for a variety of activities including scuba diving and elephant riding. They also have a movie playing every evening in the main area, and they are open to suggestions if you want to ask for something specific.

The location (Lonely Beach) is a little far from the main ferry line--it cost us 200 baht/pax because it was late and the songthaew wasn't full--but this wasn't a problem after we arrived because they rented scooters for a very reasonable price that allowed us to go all over the island as we pleased.

We stayed there in the off-season for tourism, so the atmosphere was very calm and laid back, and the prices were very affordable. There is a 24 hour grocery store (which wasn't actually open 24 hours when we were there) right out the front of The Sunflower, as well as some restaurants that also serve food 24 hours per day.

Overall, it was a very good experience, at a very reasonable price. If I go back to Koh Chang, I would definitely stay there again.

We found this place on hostel world and only booked 2 nights as we didnt know what it was going to be like, ended up staying over 2 weeks! we stayed in a concrete bungalow, about 700b per night with air con. it was so close to the beach compared to other bungalows and hotels in lonely beach and also close to the most friendliest bars ever! it has a nice little restaurant in the main bit that does nice cheap food. overall i would really recommend. there is cheaper places, but not any cheaper for the location. we will be back soon!
