“Don't book”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Facility wise the resort is 'ok'. It's nothing more then what you see in the pictures online.

But then the misery comes:
1. The receptionist puts us in a room we did not book and comes to tell us later we have to pay
extra.
2. The water in our bungalow did not work for 3 out of 6 days.
3. While checking out we had to pay extra for a 5 year old child. When I showed them that while
booking there's clearly written that children till 8 go for free they still insist on a 100 BTH per
night extra charge. This is 'old' information on internet and we have to pay.

Koh Chang: beautiful island, absolutely recommendable, but the management in this resort, well it should be forbidden!

I revisited Nang Nual twice. Nang Nual has enough privacy, great value for money, amazing view and 5 minutes walk to the closes 7Eleven. Bars, pubs and restaurants are very close. The sea is less than 30 seconds walk, however, it does not have a sandy beach. To go to a sandy beach from here, you would need 5 minutes walk. They have an amazing pool.

Room Tip: Take the sea view rooms.

We stayed 5 days at this resort and I would recommend it for those who do not look for luxury and high service. Bongalow big enough and clean. Breakfast was ok. No private beach, but its allowed to use the one in the next resort.
Wifi worked only in the reception but it was impossible to be there for it was full of mosquitos. Actually you better prepare yourself with mosquito repelents, mosquitos are everywhere around, because there is a big pond with standing water- a mosquito hatchery!

high season price very fair, and all facilities in bungalow in good working order. no more than the usual issues with the thai staff; unique to this resort though was the lack of knowledge regarding the order sheets and blankets go on a bed!!
limited breakfast choice, but buffet style so you can have what you want.
i would return. pool in adjacent resort very nice

Room Tip: i don't do hotel rooms anymore, espesh in thailand. too many noisy russians about now. go for a...

The Nang Nual Resort on Koh Chang Island was a pleasant surprise. It was actually by mistake that we ended up on Koh Chang when the mini-bus driver drove past Trat where we had a reservation and dropped us off at the ferry dock going to Koh Chang. We didn't have a reservation until the next day at the Dusita Resort on Koh Kood. It was getting late and we didn't want to have to backtrack to Trat, so we quickly purchased ferry tickets. The stand also offered lodging assistance so we randomly chose a place to stay and marched off to catch one of the last ferries of the day. We had thought of visiting Koh Chang someday, but here we were. After hustling off the ferry, we caught a songthaew (a truck that has covered parallel seats in the back) to our resort. It took us past several shops, restaurants, bars, blasting music, and red light establishments (w/ red lights and beautiful Thai girls pretending to play pool tempting in paying dates). We were happy to discover Nang Nual Resort was tucked away from the action and right off the ocean. Our bungalow was small but quite modern and cute. There was good speed internet access in our room. Bedding was comfortable and the bungalow was clean. There was a nice functional deck in front. We paid 1400 THB. After a great dinner in their outdoor restaurant and great night's sleep, we literally lugged our backpacks next door to catch a zooming speed boat to Koh Kood. The grounds were nice, but could be better maintained as far as grass maintenance. There is no beach to speak of, as big rocks line the resort. At high tide you'd be able to swim there, or go to a local beach that has white sand. I think the charm of the Nan Nual Resort is really the quiet serenity if offers and the easy convenience to catch a speed boat to other islands. The staff were also super nice and eager to please their guests.

Room Tip: Catch a speed boat to one of the islands... the dock is right next door!

This 'resort' lacks any kind of atmosphere. The resort felt eerily quite although it was apparently fully booked when we stayed. The staff were generally indifferent and at times rude. The breakfast was included in the room rate but of a very basic quality. The room did not feel clean and the sheet on each bed was actually a large towel - very unusual. Although the resort brochure includes a photo of a swimming pool, the swimming pool depicted is in fact located at the neighboring resort and guests at the Nang Nual are given a coupon to use it. Nang Nual has very few redeeming features (if any) and I would not recommend.

My stay was over 5 days. The location was good but the atmosphere lacked a friendliness that was evident in other places I stayed. Money went missing from my bag in the room and there was no sign of a break in. There was a big sign on the wall saying the resort is not reponsibe for any loss of valuables. My own fault i guess for leaving my bag in the wardrobe for the day, but still is very worrying. During the stay cleaners came every morning but the sheets were not changed. The room was good and the breakfast was ok, but the lack of personality and warmth made my stay unmemorable apart from the missing money!
