“Quiet plance on busy island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We stayed with Matt and his family for 8 nights and truely enjoyed our stay at Paradise Palms Resort.
There are only three bungalows for two, which are all lovely and very clean.
As mentioned in many previous reviews, the private beach is rocky but has the great advantage that it really is private and you can enjoy the sunset in peace. Most beach hotels on Koh Chang with nice sand beaches are very busy in the evening because they have atached restaurants which expand to the beach in the evening.
The resort has a perfect location to explore the island by scooter and the nearby restaurant "Saffron" is recommendable if you prefer dinner in walking distance.
If you want a friendly, clean and quiet base for your vacation this is the place for you!

I decided to book a place a bit of the beaten track to get the Island feeling. Paradise Palms did the trick. Matt and his family is always handy to help out. Not a great swimming beach but you can use the Scuba gear there for free to make up for that. Peaceful place if you want to go and unwind. None of the beaches was busy this time of year but i believe during high season this get away will even be better. No noise. Just you and nature.

We had the pleasure of staying 17 nights and loved every day here. From the moment I emailed Matt prior to our stay, he was extremely efficient at communicating. He arranged a driver to collect us from our hotel in Bangkok and even sorted out my request for a baby seat too! A fantastic start!
After a safe and comfortable 5 hour drive and short ferry ride to the island of Koh Chang, Matt was there with his pick up truck to drive us personally to his resort.
The warm and welcoming approach that Matt, Tara and their lovely daughter Muksuda gave us was what made our holiday so special.
The out of season offers made this bungalow a fantastic price for our family to stay.
We were very lucky to have the front bungalow with its sunset views! Amazing!
As we were staying during August it was rainy season. But the bungalow was so cosy that it was great to snuggle up and watch the rain with a beer! The bungalow comes with a massive fridge freezer so keeping food and drink cool is a breeze!
The walk in shower is massive too!
There is an amazing Resturant a 2 min walk away - Saffron. They open from 8am till late. Serving outstanding thai food, alongside a great carbonara! Ask for garlic bread - not on the menu but they make it beautifully!
Matt greeted us every morning with a friendly hello. Always asking if we were ok. Nothing was to much trouble for Matt and Tara. They are very approachable and care that your stay is the best it can be.
We would normally be out of our bungalow by 9am and would walk up to the main road to catch a open truck taxi to white sands beach for the day (out of season we found the beach was deserted! )The best beach bar we found that worked well with the shade for our toddler was Bamboo Tango. Again very friendly staff.
Matt organised our sons birthday treat trip to see the elephants in the jungle. A fantastic experience to trek on the old female elephant through the jungle in the pouring rain! Unforgettable.
Matt offered to host a BBQ on our last day, which was our sons 3rd birthday. He took my husband up to the local fish market and they came back with bags full of prawns, squid and fresh water fish! Tara prepared all the fish and made and amazing mango salad.
We all enjoyed the afternoon and the party continued into the evening! We had decided the day before that instead of spending two nights in Bangkok after our 16 nights in koh Chang, that we would rather stay an extra night at the beautiful bungalow! Matt and Tara were more that accommodating in re organising our booked driver and taxi back to Bangkok - we really didn't want to leave!
On our final morning, the rain arrived again and the lovely Tara gave our son a orange umbrella (his favourite colour!) we packed our bags into the taxi and said our goodbyes. We left Paradise Palm with happy hearts, relaxed minds and full of charm for the island and resort. This is a truly amazing place and I would choose this place over all the corporate 5 star hotels on the island! An amazing stay, unforgettable memories xx can't wait to return!

I have frequented Koh Chang for over 10 years now and would not stay anywhere else other than Paradise Palms, Mathew and Tara are the most pleasant and accommodating couple I have the pleasure to have met. The accommodation is always clean and tidy as well as the grounds of the private complex and beach, not to mention the beach bar! Nothing is too much trouble for Matt and Tara they are very knowledgeable about the island and can always give the best advice about where to go for food and drink or day trips , In my view the resort itself has the best of both worlds it is very tranquil but not too far away from the hustle and bustle of white sands beach.

We stayed for 11 nights in Matt and Tara's lovely beach bungalows and enjoyed it very much. The private ocean views were amazing. The palm tree lined property provided shade and a much welcome breeze which seemed to ensured that the temperature was at least 5 degrees cooler than anywhere else on the island. Matt and Tara made us feel very welcome. They recommended local eating spots, arranged for motorbike rental and even hosted a barbecue for us on our last night. We highly recommend Paradise Palms and hope to go back soon.
