“Beautiful and well looked after”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

The gardens are huge, so give yourself plenty of time to see them. The orchids are especially good although I would give the butterfly musuem a miss (much prefer to see live specimens). There is a lake with black swans and ducks, geese etc which is beautiful and an ideal spot to sit and relax for a while. The flower displays are spectacular and really well looked after with a lot of staff clearly working hard to keep them all looking so good. Well worth a visit.

“Spent a happy day here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

The aviary and butterfly museum are excellent. The latter has a very helpful English speaking manager. Bring a picnic.

“A nice walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

A lovely garden well layed out with various areas for differing plants and vegetation. A most picturesqe and relaxing walk. The park is well used by locals who like to interact with tourists, but this was not annoying the just wished to talk not sell anything

“Green Oasis in a Dry Land”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

The botanical gardens were set up in the 1920s, and there is a strong sense of English formality about some of the area, with flowerbeds, swathes of grass to lie on, and families enjoying time out. There is also an extensive display of orchids, butterflies, a walk-in aviary and a lot of relatively untouched forest where you could wander for a long time. There are a lot of butterflies in the forest (and no doubt snakes as well) of all sizes, shapes and colours. It is a little way out of town, but worth the effort and the small entrance fee.

“Gorgeous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Perfectly manicured lawns (someone was cutting around flower beds with a mini sickle!), orchids galore and a walk through aviary. Having been to Botanical Gardens in Ooty, Kandy etc these were a similar delight. Don't expect the whizz bang of Kirstenbosch but nevertheless these lived up to all we expected.
