Stayed 3 nights in early March and cannot reccommend this place enough. Anand and Subudhi, the owner/operators of Risikesh Valley, made the stay relaxing and met all of our needs. The cabin rooms are spacious with the added treat of western toilets. The food was some of the best I had while in India. Beautiful hikes in the area while the possibility of shared taxis makes getting to Rishikesh relatively easy. Definitely worth a stay if you're looking to enjoy the quieter side of India.

Rishikesh Valley is a wonderful get-away place to stay. Escape the traffic and noise and relax for a few days with Anand and his staff. Anand will make you feel right at home and will share stories and fill you full of facts and understanding of the Hindu culture next to nightly bon fires. All of the food is grown on the farm and we ate the best meals of our vacation here. Spend your days hiking to nearby temples, doing yoga and meditation in the hut, or relaxing by the river with a book. Anand and his staff go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable without crowding your space. A lovely retreat to be recommended to all!!!

We had one of the best experience while staying with ever friendly host Anand and his staff. Food was excellent, guess most of us gained bit of weight. Its a very rustic and no frill setup if you like to be close to nature, this is the place to be. Anand is also a good yoga and meditation teacher. Over all it was great experience staying in Rishikesh Valley, sure everyone would enjoy their stay here.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2010

Date : Dec 10-13, 2010

We stayed here as a group of 9 friends from Mumbai. We had booked this resort as we wanted a quiet and peaceful getaway, very much connected to nature, and wanted to experience something totally rustic. There are about 10 cottages ( twin sharable), made of mud with basic amenities like an attached bathroom, basic lighting and a cozy bed. No geysers - hot water available on request in buckets. This is owned by Anandji and Subodhi who looked after us very well. The food was all vegetarian but lipsmacking and most delicious. Bonfires were available early morning and in the evenings when temperatures were sub 10 degrees.

There is a badminton court and a nearby stream which we explored. Local transport to Laxman jhula or rishikesh town was readily arranged by Anandji. The drive take about 90 minutes from Dehradun airport. Our basic purpose of the trip was to chill out and experience water rafting and some jumping adventures at Jumpinheights ( just a few kms away from the resort). Anandji also took some refreshing yoga and meditation classes for us.

The resort is situated in a valley, so it gets dark early once the sun goes below the mountains and gets quite cold at night. Go with lots of warm clothes if your planning a trip in the winters.

thanks Anandji and Subodhi for making this so memorable.

India is full of intense experiences- millions of people, sights, sounds and smells... it makes it hard to relax or think clearly at times. Here at Rishikesh Valley, though, not only are the mountains and river a perfect setting for relaxation, but Anand, Subudhi and their staff are so wise and beautiful that you will find happiness and serenity together.

We were very well taken care of here- the food was the best we had during our time in the country- fresh chappatis, tropical fruits, spicy and savory vegetables, chutneys, pancakes and soups- more than we could imagine would appear at our table.

We spent our days hiking, exploring the nearby towns and rivers of Luxhman Joola and Ram Joola, and drinking tea in the garden. Each morning, Anand led us in gentle yoga and meditation, and each evening he and Subudhi told us stories by the fire.

Our bamboo hut was simple and perfect, and even though the nights were chilly, we stayed warm beneath our blankets and enjoyed the sounds of the natural world outside our door.

After our experience at Rishikesh Valley, we are inspired to continue our yoga practice, to consider our Ayurvedic doshas, to laugh as often as possible, and to remember that life is precious.

I discovered this beautiful place through Tripadvisor only.. so thanks a lot Tripadvisor for your amazing portal which offers actual reviews. Rishikesh Valley offerred an extremely soothign experience to me and my partner. We were in no mood to leave this beautiful place where time had come to a standstill :) The only thing to watch out for is: this place is not for you if you are expecting luxury. The rooms are actually huts with thatched roof and there is no shower or geyser in the bathrooms. You will have to be content with an aircooler and simple spice-less food... but then that's the whole idea behind making it a spriitual experience right...

All in all..its a good place.... but keep your ego and love for material comforts aside when visiting this place.. :)
