“Fantastic Views, Nice Enough Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Lovely setting (if you get a river facing room, if not most rooms have access to the balconys) Based in the laxman jahula part up the hill its quiet and peacefull which after 2 days in delhi was perfect. Didnt have dinner in the hotel was too bust exploring but breakfast was ok. Nice views from the restaurant too. Helpfull staff and very welcoming manager.

Room Tip: Ask for river facing room

Divine Resort was great at hospitality and entertainment, however the warm welcome we received, did not extend to the accommodation or the meals. The rooms were old and outdated, and desperately in need of renovation. Bathrooms were an eyesore. Problems with geyser had us running out of hot water. The restaurant was over priced and the food was extremely bad and tasteless, which left us very hungry for 2 days. Breakfast was also not even worth a mention... The best part of this hotel tho, was the magnificent views of the Ganges, which were just splendid. We also enjoyed river rafting on the Ganges, which was an unforgettable experience. Its overall an OK place to stay if u are on a budget, or just passing thru. The spa was also a worthwhile visit. If u are a religious person, be prepared to be hugely disappointed at how the temples in the area have become a disgrace, a money making spectacle, where visitors are "forced " to pay in specified amounts of money to the temples...

We were a little wary of staying in this hotel even after we visited it and saw the rooms whilst we were staying in another one in Rishikesh due to the fact that some of the reviews on the Trip Advisor website were quite contradictory (some good and some the opposite). First we tried the coffee shop out for coffee and cakes which was great. Next we ate there in the evening and similarly the food and service was very good. We then decided to take one of the rooms in the new wing which are really big and well appointed. Everything actually works perfectly - hot water, great bathroom (with a man sized toilet roll plus a spare even!), lovely comfy beds and pillows, flat screen TV with cable, etc. Probably the best thing about the experience was that fact that the room overlooks the raging Ganges below. To sit out on the ample balcony reading a book was so relaxing. It was so good we extended our stay in Rishikesh by 3 more days to enjoy this place.

The only disappointment was with the formal restaurant, It has superb views over the Ganges from 2 sides but lacks any character, it being rather large and impersonal with big tables widely spaced out. Left us feeling rather sad and lonely. However, exactly the same food is served up in the front coffee shop so we chose to take our evening meals there instead. We even forefeit the included buffet breakfast served in the restaurant, and rather paid for a breakfast off of the menu in the coffee shop instead (it also has the benefit of the espresso coffee there as an added bonus).

Room Tip: We cannot speak for the rooms in the older part of the hotel, but can certainly recommend rooms in t...

I had been to rishikesh with my family during the deepawali holidays. We had a memorable experience at Divine Resort. We stayed in the Executive Room in the New Wing. The room was quite large with a private balcony facing the holy river and the awesome mountains. From our room we could also see Ram Jhula and sunset. Just before the check in, we were given a warm welcome with garland and a special welcome drink made from lemon, ginger and honey by one Mr. R K Khanna, who seemed to be Guest Relations Officer. After the check in, Mr. Khanna showed us the property, our rooms, and gave us a general idea about the sightseeing places and other local information. One special point worth mentioning here - Despite being a good person at heart, Mr. Khanna was often quite irritating because of his filmy style and approach and unnecessary talks so much so that we got bored and then after we started avoiding him. Overall, the property is quite good but not much attention seems to be given to its maintenance. There is an obvious lack of professionalism in the services especially by the house keeping and reception staff. Restaurant is quite good with personal attention by the F & B Manager. Overall, our stay was quite comfortable and memorable at Divine Resort and we would surely recommend it to our friends and family.

Room Tip: If you want river facing rooms with balcony, go for executive category rooms in the new wing. Rooms...

The best part about divine resort is the unobstructed view Ganga from almost all rooms. You can see its different faces during different parts of day and night. You can even hear the sound of flowing water when it's silent. At night it's really beautiful, you can have a panoramic view of city lights. You can also go down to have a bath in the river.

Other than that it is an average hotel. Food is okay- some items are good, others average. Service is also kind of sluggish, not the best.

Many foreigners- especially Japanese and German people stay here, so atmosphere is nice.

We stayed at Divine Resort in the second week of November 2012. From the outside, you might feel like you have taken a wrong decision about choosing this hotel. But, as soon as you enter the New Wing with fabulous and breathtaking views of the roaring Ganges and the Himalayas and the pristine views, you would surely realize that you have come to the best place in the whole of the Rishikesh. We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days, and I must stay that overall we had a good and comfortable experience since the property is excellent with wonderful views, and large balconies. One thing that needs special mention here is the fact that only the new wing with Executive category rooms have balconies and river views. Room Nos. 601, 602, 603 are quite big with big balconies facing the river and mountains. Room nos. 701 to 704 are little smaller but they also have river view balconies. Room service, House Keeping, and Reception staff lack the professional touch and friendly approach but with some patience, little tolerance, and moderate expectations, I am sure you would surely enjoy the stay at this divine place. The restaurant has a very good ambiance and it serves quite healthy and sumptuous buffet breakfast. Food taste, quality and variety are quite okay. All the requests for special dishes, and food without onion/garlic/chilly were promptly met with by the restaurant staff. Mr Sandeep Bhat F & B Manager deserves to be given A+ grades for personalized attention, professional services, and giving us homely atmosphere. Given an opportunity to visit Rishikesh again in the future, we would surely consider an option of staying with Divine Resort.
