“It aint golden and it aint a tulip”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the golden tulip farah hotel in Safi. This hotel is very run down and the rooms are terrible. But the worst part is the fact that neither elevators worked and we had to shlep our luggage up the flights of stairs. When we complained to the front desk, we got no where fast. The front desk is indifferent and will not give you the right time of day...At breakfast the atitude of the staff was that they were doing you a big favor by allowing you to eat from the breakfast buffet in their hotel. No hospitality whatsoever.

Room Tip: there are no good rooms in this run down hotel.

Hotel run by clowns who have never stayed at an hotel. The room was filthy, no coat hangers, the bedside lights did not work and the bathroom needed a thorough clean. You would not serve the apology of breakfast to pigs let alone humans.

Room Tip: Do not bother booking any room.

I stayed in this hotel on business trip, but also had my family along. I had reserved for a large group -- 5 singles, a double, and a suite -- but when we arrived they could not find our reservations. They had rooms available but no suites, and no baby crib as requested. Our room was in a hallway with no lighting that was so dark I had to use the light from my cell phone to see the keyhole. The room was hot, and the AC did not work. The pool was open to the (paying) public and full of hundreds of teenagers all day blaring music, making both the poolside room and the pool unbearable. There were no pool towels, and I was told to use the towel from my room -- but when I went back to get bath towels from the room, there weren't any there either. The front desk manager generally seemed perplexed by my requests for a baby crib (I have stayed in a lot of hotels and riads in Morocco, and most have them), towels, and working AC. We wanted to eat in the hotel but they wouldn't let us order from the restaurant menu on the adjoining terrace, and had to sit in an empty, hot dining room to eat an overpriced dinner.

A few positives -- The housekeeping and waitstaff we encountered were nice and friendly. The room was clean. The food in the restaurant was actually decent, and the beer cold.

I was supposed to stay two nights but left after one and drove back to Casablanca.

This hotel is probably short before closing down. The location is on the outskirts, swimmingpool is under reconstruction. Terrace is very old, no atmosphere, all the painting is bad, a bar without staff. Dinner and breakfast is of very bad quality. No fresh bread etc.
The cooridors to the rooms were filthy and full of dirt, bathroom very old and rooms not clean.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2009

Stayed here in mid June 2009. The pictures of the hotel looked great. However, we found something different. When we checked in it was hot. I asked the front desk gentleman where the pool was and he said there was no water in it! We went to our room and found no air conditioning either. I went back to the desk to switch rooms. The A/C felt a little cooler, but we had to go to dinner. Got back, room still hot. Front desk gave me 6 keys the next day to try. No A/C. Turns out there was no A/C in the hotel and maybe only 3 or 4 rooms seemed to be used. Try somewhere else if you can!

This hotel is a three star at best, although I've stayed at a lot of 3 star hotels that are much better than this one. Its comfortable enough, just far too expensive for what you get, its a very basic hotel and should be charging about half the price for rooms.
