We stayed at the Inn for two nights on a week long trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The owners, Barry and Beryl, were the perfect hosts. The combination of the food, the service, the accommodations, and their company was perfect. Whether you're having a cocktail from the deck and enjoying the fantastic view, enjoying a comfortable, peaceful evening of sleep, or having a sumptuous breakfast, you can't go wrong. There is also plenty to do in the area with the Natural Bridge, Safari Park, and Lexington restaurants.

Fab location beautiful views of the mountains. This was a cure for home sickness. The best of British, as near as you can get. Back bacon, baked beans, real home made bread and Yorkshire tea. I recently visited family and friends in Virginia after moving to California last year. My mother, brother, sister-in-law and I decided to take a trip to visit the Natural Bridge area. After a little research we chose the Blacksmith Inn to stay the night. What a delightful experience! The proprietors, Barrie and Beryl were so kind and very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable rooms, the spectacular panoramic view from our balcony and the breakfast....wow, that breakfast! Traditional English tea (the owners are from England), home-made bread and jam, English Bacon, sausages, cheese eggs and a fried tomato dish with fresh tomatoes from their garden. While in the area we visited the beautiful Natural Bridge and the Virginia Safari Park (what fun!). It was all just lovely and something everyone should add to their list of things to do and see.

This was my very first experience staying at a Bed & Breakfast, and I am thoroughly pleased with how our stay went. Barrie and Beryl are amazing hosts and they prepare wonderful meals. The views from the rooms or the balcony are positively breathtaking. Overlooking the horse farm and a pear orchard against a beautiful background of mountain skyline, it was hard not to be completely at ease. BOOK A ROOM HERE!

Room Tip: towards the front of the house you can here a little bit of the traffic from 81, but you really have...

My wife and I recently stayed here for 3 nights without kids. We had a very relaxed time, which is exactly what we needed. The full breakfasts were delicious, I mean really good, and they were presented very well too....We had curry/fish and chips one evening there, and that was also great tasting, and again well presented. Just don't forget to bring your own beer/wine (oh, they provide a fridge for that too)......This place is incredibly clean...... Outside, there are two porches that overlook a great view of neighboring horse farm and blue ridge. There is some road noise from I-81, but this didn't bother us. If you're looking for a breeze, green, chirping birds, and horses grazing, this is your place.......The hosts were very friendly and interesting to talk to. We were the only guests, and they were so open that we felt almost as if we were old friends. This was a very 'personal' but still very professional B&B experience for us......Activity-wise, you can have a good European experience by staying at the Blacksmith and dining an evening/afternoon at the Rhein River Inn in Buchanann. We also rented canoes in Buchanan, poked around Lexington/W&L/VMI, hit the drive-in there, and took the scenic route there and back. Nice getaway!

This was my first experience with a B&B. I had no idea what to expect. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the owners Barrie & Beryl. Such sweet and accommodating people! They always had a smile on their faces!! The food was out of this world! Breakfast is my favorite meal and boy did they out do what I am used to! Homemade bread, jam, bacon, eggs, etc. So yummy! The decor of the house was amazing! Each room was beautifully decorated! You cant ask for a better view of the mountains and horses! It is also minutes from Natural Bridge and Lexington. Very easy to get too! I could not have asked for a better experience. I will be back!
