“Very Enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

This is an excellent example of what a dedicated group of history-minded private citizens can do to preserve and make available an important piece of world history.

The house itself and the grounds are very well maintained, interesting and beautiful. The museum complex is first rate - interesting to both child and adult. The ubiquitous staff are all well informed and eager to share their knowledge.

Well worth a several hour visit.

“Must see Renyolds Museum and Ed center”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

If you go to Mount Vernon, take the time to go through the Ed Center. There are three theaters with short films but very well done. The one on the War of 1812 is especially impressive, done in 4D. You can feel the concussion of the cannons as well as the snowflakes falling and landing on your arms during the Valley Forge segment.

Thanks so much for your visit! So glad that you enjoyed our Education Center and 4-D movie (I think you meant about the Revolutionary War)!

“History is full of surprises.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

A small group of Wounded Warriors and their spouses travelled from Ft Bragg to tour this location. Were we greeted and welcomed with open arms. Since Mt Vernon is privately owned, it was not affected by the government shut down like the National Park Service memorials. We received a delightful guided tour of the house and grounds. We were treated to a special opportunity to see/touch the tombs of George and Martha Washington. Not something that everyone is allowed to do.

“A Must See - True American History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

While in the DC area, my wife and I decided to visit the home of President Washington. It was definitely worth the visit. The history of his time at Mt. Vernon as presented by the tour guides, makes this a valuable stop while on your historic tour of our country. The grounds alone are worth seeing. I recommend a visit.

“One of the better sites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We did the river cruise down the Potomac on the Spirit of Mount Vernon. It was a really cool way to get there. Being able to cruise the Potomac made it really special. It's really historically interesting and knowing you are walking the same ground as the Washington's is really a sobering feeling. The "commercial" part of it is away from the historical part so it's nice that it doesn't feel commercial.
