Wanted to tell everyone what a wonderful reunion week we had at Littlepage Inn. The freedom to have 22 people including 9 children, ages 4 through 14 with each family having their own self contained area was wonderful. At the last reunion we had a huge house, each family had their own bedroom, but without the isolation you sometimes need. Also groups of the kids could decide how they wanted to pair up and where to sleep each night.
The pool was obviously a big hit and the number of pool toys and games they provided, kept everyone burning off as much energy as they wanted. In addition it was a good common area for family members to come and go. That also was the beauty of the large and comfortable dining room; we all ate breakfast, lunch and dinner together or sometimes the kids first at dinner and then the adults. We decorated the dining room and hallway with handmade Confederate and Union flags, as well as typical menus for aristocrats, average people and slaves for our Civil War night festivities.
Family members came from Rome, Italy, Massachusetts, Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia and Virginia. They all had different interests so the location was perfect for the pontoon rides on Lake Anna, trips to Jamestown, Luray Caverns, the Shanandoahs, the local battlefields at Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Fredericksburg. In addition, some of the family went to Washington DC, before, during and after the reunion.
