My first visit to this restaurant and I was not disappointed. The hibachi table was awesome and so entertaining. I loved the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. I had the steak and chicken combo. I cannot wait to have another meal at Shoguns !

“Tasty Food but issues with sanitation and service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

2nd visit, we went for the hibachi table. More than half full on a Saturday night. Wait staff was new and obviously had no prior experience with waiting tables. Continual profuse apologies from head waitress and our assigned waitress but some mistakes were a lake of maturity and decorum. This restaurant is hiring unskilled workers. In this area and local economy there is no shortage of experienced and professional waitstaff so no excuse. .When soup bowls were removed it was splashed over other patrons dinner plates and no attempt to clean up or replace plates. Drinks were delivered with her hand around the tops of glassesand holding the mouth side of utensils delivered with dessert.. After a 45 minute wait to have a large mistake on the bill corrected by the manager, who was sitting in a booth on the bar side and although there were so many loud compalints from all the tables regarding wrong orders, bill mistakes, long waits, missing appetizers, desserts etc.she never appeared to help out as a manager should and we received no apologies for the horrendous server and bill problems even when we approached her at the register begging her to correct the card charge so we can leave. the general physical condition of the dining area was run down and unclean. From our table we could smell a strong sewage odor and when I
visited the rest room
I realized it was coming from the toilets. Air freshners were opened and tossed around the floor of the ladies room in a weak attempt to cover up the problem. Very scary. Not returning and do not recommend.

“One of the better Japanese places in Richmond area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

My wife and I had visited 4 different Japanese Hibatchi steak houses and this one is probably the best that we have been to so far. The decor is more modern as in "not the traditional Japanese Steak house decor", but regular sit down restaurant.

The chef was very good and all the food was cooked exactly how we liked it. There were 4 other couples sitting with us and they all said their food was great. The waitress was a little slow bringing drinks and refilling water.

They one bad part is my wife wanted cold saki and asked for a small bottle. They come back after everyone else has their drinks and tell us they are out of small bottles but can give us the large one for 25.00 instead of the small for 8.00. They had several other types of Saki much cheaper than the 25.00 but she decided to just have something else. The bar service and the waitress were the really only bad part of the visit.
