Sometimes restaurants in Middleburg can be a bit stuffy. The Red Horse Tavern definitely is not -- it's very casual & welcoming. We went during a weekday, when it wasn't busy. Our waitress was smiling & friendly and provided excellent service.
I had one of the daily specials -- a steak panini. It was ok. A bit heavy on the mayo, so the inside of the sandwich was somewhat mushy. And the cheese had no flavor at all. But the ingredients seemed fresh. The french fries were excellent -- cooked perfectly, very lightly battered.
My friend & I had both worked huge appetites and it was frigid outside, so even though the sandwiches we had weren't the most inspiring, we enjoyed our visit there.
