I've always loved the Goodstone Inn. The setting, the rooms, the exquisite food - including its presentation. Whether it's breakfast or lunch or dinner, you're in for a treat.
That said, I have a message to the managers: please pay attention to service and a few small - but important - details. For example, if a customer orders Grand Marnier, do not treat him like a fool by serving up Cointreau. When it's pointed out that the wrong drink was brought, please don't add insult to injury by saying "oh it's all made from orange blossom, it's the same thing". And if you do find yourself going that far, please stop there. Don't rub salt in the wound by adding that the only Grand Marnier available is a 100 years old...and leave that sentence hanging there as if the customer could not possibly be worthy of it and it's reserved for some heavenly being!
You get the picture. Quite shocking, really, especially when the customer tried to politely point out along the way how wrong the direction of the responses were going.
Other small things that could be given attention: a way of keeping flies out of the dining room, and pool service.
I still love the place, but honestly, the grounds and your chef and kitchen staff surely deserve better.
