I've been visiting Chrysalis for several years and I love it! I don't necessarily purchase all of their wines, but I can appreciate each one. I did end up purchasing enough that I eventually signed up for their monthly wine club. Totally worth it to get the discount!
It's a relaxing atmosphere tucked into rolling hills. There are plenty of picnic tables and Adirondack chairs to sip wine and each snacks on. Their cheeses are quite tasty when paired with their wines.
As far as the other reviewer's notes about "kiddie jail"...well, I don't know a single parent who doesn't mind a day away from kids. If you don't like their policy, leave the kiddos at home. That's what the rest of us do. You don't plop your child into a stool at the local bar do you? Well, this isn't Chuck E Cheese's folks. It's a winery. They serve adults. And while in VA, they don't have liability issues if they are an operating farm, they do CARE about children's safety AND about the enjoyment of the other ADULTS who hired sitters and want a relaxing day in the country.
