The food was good but be sure to check if it is spicy before you order. I love meatballs, but they were too hot for me to eat. Luckily one of my dinner-mates traded with me since she loves spicy and i got the steak instead off her plate. The service and ambiance is wonderful.

“Great place for tapas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

If you love tapas then eat at Dish. Very quaint atmosphere, impeccable service, good wine list and selection of beers. The choices sometimes seem to be odd combinations they always taste great. Enjoy!

“Sorry...Not a fan.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012 via mobile

Perhaps small plates of overpriced entrees appeal to some... Sorry... Not me. I tried to keep an open mind... I really did! But... $16 for dinner and I had to stop for something else to eat on the way home. I found the menu offerings a bit unusual and unappealing

“Beautiful, quality food... quiet, relaxing atmosphere... perfect for date night.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011 via mobile

I love Dish because I "get" Dish. Anyone who gives it bad reviews just doesn't get it.
Dish is a tapas, or small plates, restaurant. The idea is to get a bottle of good wine, and order a few small plates, let them come in courses, and share everything. You get to try lots of different things. You share. You have a meal as an experience. It is a wonderful way to eat.
As for specifics, Dish is the place to go for a delicious cheese plate in lynchburg. THE place. The frito misto is out of this world, the steak and eggs small plate was ridiculously good. And there is pie for dessert. And you don't want to miss it. If you are ever confused about ordering, let your waiter be your guide. They know what they are doing.
Additionally, there is a great deal that they run during the week, which includes a bottle of wine, three small plates, and a dessert. For (i believe) $35. Which is such a great price. It makes for the perfect date night.
The bar isn't scene-y, the room is low lit and quiet, but not too quiet. Dress relaxed and casual, or formal as you want to take it. It all works at Dish.

“Perfect Addition to Lynchburg!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2011

Dish is an awesome little restaurant with great food and atmosphere. For anyone who hasn't had tapas (or small plates) before, you should first know that the entire menu is basically made of small, appitizer sized dishes that you order a few of. They are intended to be shared with a group. Each plate ranges in price from $6 - $14. (For more information on the history of Tapas, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapas) My husband and I generally visit Dish on a double date, where each person orders two dishes, and we all share. They have excellent beers on tap - Allagash White, my favorite. We also love visiting on weeknights (Mon-Thurs) for their Phenomenal Rendezvous. Their Phenomenal Rendezvous includes dinner for 2 ( a bottle of wine, 3 tapas dishes and dessert) for only $35! The staff is always very friendly and helpful with any questions I have had regarding the dishes or the menu. They also provide a basket with practically an entire loaf of handmade bread with the meal.

I was honestly surprised and shocked at all the average/negative reviews on TripAdvisor. I guess the restaurant isn't for everyone, but I highly recommend everyone try it at least once. You can view their menus on-line at: http://www.dishsmallplates.com/ .
