“Older but updated hotel with very friendly service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We were in town for two nights for a family wedding. The hotel is located right by a mall, with many restaurants within walking or short driving distance. Perfect for those needing to be near LC or LU.
This Hampton Inn is an updated property with mostly exterior rooms. Rooms are a bit small but very clean and comfortable. Check in was quick and friendly. Everytime we encountered a staff member, they asked if everything was OK, or if we needed anything.
Breakfast is offered until 10 AM. This Hampton Inn did not have the usual breakfast staff to replenish food items, but all requests were quickly met by the front desk clerk who did double duty in the morning. Coffee/Hot Chocolate available all day. Hot Pockets were in the fridge in the lobby for snacks. Drink and snack machines in lobby.
One negative was that our room was not cleaned after the first night. We did not vacate the room until noon so maybe that is the reason. When we realized it was not cleaned after we returned that evening, the front desk clerk was quick to give us fresh towels and toilet paper. She made a notation that the room had not been cleaned.
Overall, the question is "Would I stay here again?" We can definitely say that we would.

Room Tip: No bill is provided at check out so you will need to settle up with final bill at the front desk. We...

I travel weekly and only stay at Hilton family hotels so as a result, I am in Hampton Inn's frequently. The pictures online are very deceiving as this does not meet the standard of a Hampton Inn. This is more like a motel with exterior doors and no elevator. The rooms are tiny and the lobby is bare. I will say it was clean and the staff was excellent.

Dear TKO125,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property. I am sorry to read that your visit did not meet your prior expectations. We do feature a disclaimer on the home page of our franchise website that we are an exterior-only property and do not intend to mislead any of our guests. Again, I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding.

However, I am glad to read that you had a good experience with the staff and cleanliness of our hotel. We strive to provide the best service for our guests and hope you will consider our hotel again the next time you visit Lynchburg.

Two stories, no elevator, exterior-access, small rooms made this look more like a 70s motel than a Hampton Inn. But in the more important categories of comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness it was 100 percent Hampton. It delivered what's most important to me and for that it gets full marks. Desk clerk acknowledged that it was an older property and said the owner planned to replace it. In the meantime, there is no valid reason why Hampton Inn fans should shun this property (unless it's really important to you that a Hampton Inn look like a Hampton Inn).

We stayed two nights in this hotel for an annual event - our original hotel was fully booked so we chose this one because we have had good luck with Hampton Inns. This is an older hotel that was obviously something else before it was a Hampton Inn. Our room was on the ground floor opening up to the parking lot. Everything was on a smaller scale than a newer hotel - the lobby, breakfast area, etc, but it had been tastefully renovated. Everything, including the room, bathroom, etc, was very clean. There were no kings available, so we had two beds and, with all the furniture in there, it was a little cramped. We did appreciate the fridge and microwave, though. The only complaints we would have were, firstly, the air conditioner was very noisy with very little cool air coming out. The weather was cool, but the room was stuffy and we needed the air. Also, the breakfast attendant did not seem on top of things and did not have time to restock, empty trash, wipe tables, etc, in a timely manner. I will admit, that the set-up in the breakfast area was not very efficient, once again due to the fact that it was an older building. I got the impression that she was not used to this job, so this is really a very minor complaint.

The best thing was that they had a little freezer in the lobby with FREE chocolate popsicles, hot pockets and corndogs. We would definitely stay here again.

I noticed in the Hampton Inn guidebook that there is a new Hampton Inn set to open at the end of 2013. This was more like an old motel with outside doors and stairs at each end. We were on second floor, so my husband had to lug our suitcases up the outside staircase. There is no elevator. A problem for us folks who travel with more than a backpack. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a night's stay. An annoying noisy fan in a/c kept waking us up. Breakfast was very good, though, a nice surprise. Fresh fruit, oatmeal, and hot food available. Front desk clerk, Stephanie (?), was friendly and welcoming as we had called ahead from the road. There was only one room left on a Saturday night, so keep this in mind if you are traveling to Lynchburg.

Two stories, no elevator, exterior-access, very small rooms made this look more like a 70s motel than a Hampton Inn. But in the more important categories of comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness it was fine. 100 percent Hampton would have been nice, but this place delivered what's most important to me. For that it gets full marks. There was even a Post-It from the housekeeper stuck to the headboard saying that clean sheets had been put on the bed for my arrival. That was a nice touch, even though until I read the note it hadn't entered my mind that I might not have clean sheets. Desk clerk acknowledged that it was an older property and said the owner planned to replace it. I think that's a great business decision on his part, but until then there is no valid reason why Hampton Inn fans should shun this property.

This is the most disapointing Hampton Inn I have ever slept in-and I have seen many. It is a MOTEL with outside doors, very small room--appears to have been a renovatated whatever from yesteryear. No fitness room, no pool, no business center. And the cost was the same as a "regular" Hampton Inn.

Room Tip: Be aware the rooms have outside doors and there are no elevators to the second floor.
