“Sweet Stay in B&B in Lovettsville, Northern Virginia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Stone Manor Vineyard & Orchard is a lovely get-away destination in Northern Virginia's wine country; it's also close enough to Civil War sites to be a base for exploring them. We stayed five nights and visited Manassas, Antietam, Harper's Ferry and Gettysburg, as well as sampling wines (various vineyards), spirits (@ Catoctin Distillery), farm foods and handicrafts (a weekend festival).

The country is beautiful. Spencer and Beth, are kind, solicitous innkeepers, and provide ample breakfasts, with numerous courses to try. Probably the best scones ever. Fine yum factor. In the evening, gather in the kitchen for a glass of wine or cup of tea. Lots of good local food, both near and far. We chose the East Wing Suite, in the oldest section of this home. Lovely.

If you can only go one one day-trip outing, go to Harper's Ferry--for its beauty and history.

The accommodations at Stone Manor are just as described on the website. The hosts are so welcoming, friendly and accommodating and made us feel special. We were welcomed with a glass of wine while being shown around the manor and our room included a bottle of wine, a nice touch. The entire place is lovely!

Breakfast is really amazing--6 courses of delicious food--all home made. Don't miss this!

There are many wineries in the area and Harper's Ferry is only 20 minutes away. The countryside is pretty and the area is peaceful. We are returning soon as it was a terrific getaway.

Room Tip: We like the Blue Delft Room (standard) but will upgrade to a suite for the 2-person tub :)

What a wonderful venue! We hosted my daughters Bachelorette Party here. We booked it on line, sight unseen and what a delightful surprise! We were greeted by Beth and Spencer the owners and the champagne began to pour! We toured the property and each room was better than the next. We rented the entire space for the night and it was just perfect. Way beyond my expectations. The food was great and they made us feel at home. You will not be disappointed by this B & B & beyond..... Great for a family reunion, wedding or any private party or just for the night!

Room Tip: First or second floor, one is even 1200 square feet!

Stone Manor was gracious to host an adhoc event for my wife and I several years ago and in all the hype that followed, we forgot to rate the experience. Both hosts, Beth and Spencer, were so gracious and courteous to us during the whole experience and provided us with several unexpected surprises that brought tears to my wife's eyes. Much consideration was given detail to ensure an awesome experience was had by all. Expectations were only exceeded at this wonderful manor. Breakfast was exceptional and we liked how we could interact with Beth as she carefully crafted her special breakfast extravaganza! My only complaint would be the excess pounds I took home with me. A winery was not yet part of the experience back then and my only suggestion (but perhaps they already do so?) was to provide a guide of local wineries in the area. Over the past several years Loudoun County has exploded with wineries, many of which are just a stone's throw from Stone Manor. Can't think of a better place to relax after a day of touring the local wineries. That surely will be our next experience.

We recently were blessed to have stayed at this wonderful bed & breakfast during the recent Hurricane. My husband surprised me for my birthday we a little getaway. We felt so welcomed @ the Stone Manor, from the moment we walked in the door. Unfortunately for the innkeepers, but lucky for us, because of the impending storm, all their booked guests had cancelled, leaving only us to "weather the storm." What we received in return was an experience that worked out perfectly for us. Not only was our room and 5 course breakfast perfect, but we got an added bonus when the owners went out of their way to cook us lunch and dinner because the weather didn't warrant leaving to explore. We curled up @ the family room fireplace, enjoyed quiet time and were pleasantly surprised with making new friends too. Thank you Beth & Spencer for a perfect retreat for us!

The property is set back 4 miles from the main road and is very nice and well kept. However, I have a few issues with the place which I am hoping to highlight: 1) the room we stayed in (Blue Delft) was somewhat rustic with bugs in the bathroom and a very squeaky bed - you must be prepared for this. 2) country music blasted at 5 in the morning which awoke us - probably an infrequent occurrence but still...

Breakfast is great, you can tell the homeowners are really passionate about their place, and it is in a wonderful location if you want to see the various vineyards in the area. Overall, I would probably try a new place next time (perhaps something in downtown Leesburg which I thought was amazing) but I can see how some people can have a better experience than us.

We are so sorry that our guests did not have a wonderful experience in every possible way at Stone Manor. We strive to see that each of our guests have the best experience that can be provided. I can understand that one's experience can be marred by an early morning awakening. But this is the first time in five years that someone was awakened by another guest's loud music/alarm clock at Stone Manor. Each of our suites are separately insulated to limit sound from one suite to another. When we were alerted that there was loud music playing in another suite during the early hours of the morning, we went to investigate. Apparently, before we arrived, the music had been stopped. I was also surprised to learn that the bed squeaked in the Blue Delft Suite. I investigated since seeing this review and tightened a couple of the nuts holding the bed springs to the headboard but could not get the bed to squeak loudly. This was also the time of the year that the lady bugs and stink bugs are searching for places to winter. They will many times come through doors that have been opened by our guests. Although each of our rooms are provided a thorough cleaning, some lady bugs or stink bugs will enter the house each year. As our guest stated, we are in the country. We have a mountain in our backyard, and are surrounded by pastures and vineyards. About a third of our guests are return-guests and have selected us over-and-over again for that reason.

It was so nice that we have stayed here twice! Spencer and Beth are great hosts and we will def go back there again.

You are greeted by the owners Beth and Spencer. They are absolutely a wonderful couple. We stated in the peacock room both times. THe house is georgeous and VERY spacious.

Breakfast is a wonderful spread of homemade quiches, turnovers, scones, suasage, bacon, eggs, and more which are all made by Beth and Spencer. THe last time we stayed was over Xmas 2011. We even had lil gifts to open along with breakfast. We shared a wonderful morning with their family there as well. I see no reason that anyone would walk away from the table hungry.

For lunch and dinner there are many of wonderful places near by via a short drive. Our favorite is Magnolias at the Mill. The food is so good that we are going to use them to cater our wedding.

Room Tip: Peacock Suite is awesome!
