We stopped for brunch on our way home from of a weekend get-away and what a wonderful way to wrap it up! The food was fantastic, the view beautiful, and the staff extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive. My husband had the gnocchi with black truffle butter, toasted hazelnuts and provolone for an appetizer, Suquet de Costa Brava (rockfish, littleneck clams, PEI mussels and saffron rice) for the main course, and Acquerello Organic Rice Pudding for dessert. I eat vegan which I'd mentioned ahead of time and the chef provided the most elegant and delicious vegan meal I've ever had in a restaurant. For my appetizer he prepared a dish of cooked and raw beets, paper-thin radish slices, and arugula dressed with aged balsamic vinegar. My entree was the winter vegetable medley from the menu which included beets, turnips, mushrooms, fingerling potatoes and collard greens, garnished with daikon and slices of granny smith apples. Dessert was grapefruit sorbet atop homemade granola, capped with an amazing froth of rosemary bubbles. Oh - lest I forget, we started with carrot bread and vegan olive biscuits which set the tone for the rest of out memorable meal. Every single item we had was delicious, wouldn't change a thing.
If you live in the DC metro area, are looking for a memorable meal, and don't mind a drive into the lovely northern Virginia countryside, I highly recommend The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm.
