“Lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2010

This is a lovely Bed and Breakfast within walking distance to everything in Lexington. The owners, Tim and Jan, are delightful and welcoming people. Breakfast was spectacular!! Everything was home made, including the assorted jams. We had blueberry french toast, sausage, assorted fresh fruits, and other delicacies one morning and very fancy scrambled eggs, cheese grits, biscuits, etc. the other morning. We were there for our son's law school graduation. As expected, most of the other guests were there for the same reason. It was fun to get to know the other guests at breakfast! There were two public outside sitting areas--the front porch and a second story deck where most of the guest rooms were. We particularly enjoyed the deck as it was just outside our room and it had a coffee/tea station close by. Both afternoons we enjoyed tea while sitting on this deck. Jan and Tim took the time to know all our names, were available if we needed them but remained unobtrusive if we were all set. The rooms were very clean and well cared for. We highly recommend this B&B!

I stayed at the Magnolia House to attend a law school reunion and was excited to see this B&B. The house was lovely and the breakfast was fine, but I have never felt as unwelcome at a B&B. The owners were rude on several occassions and I was scolded for arriving at breakfast a few minutes late and having dietary restrictions. Friends also staying at the Magnolia House Inn for the reunion had similar experiences ranging from reservation difficulties to notes left in their rooms, leaving us all hesitant to return the second night. Lexington, Virginia is a beautiful town that offers abundant hospitality. In order to get the full experience, I would recommend staying elsewhere.

We were just passing through and could only spend 1 night, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The proprietors were very accomodating to our late arrival, very pleasant and easy to talk to, and were knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are beautifully decorated, each with it's own style. And breakfast the following morning was simply delicious! They certainly went above and beyond to make us feel truly welcomed.

My husband and I stayed at the Magnolia House Inn last weekend for the first time, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The inn is a beautiful 1800's home on Main Street in Lexington, within walking distance of downtown. We stayed in the Sunshine Room, which was upstairs - a very clean, bright, and cozy room, facing the street. The bed and feather pillows were very comfortable, and the bath towels extremely soft and luxurious! The room was furnished in Victorian decor - simple, yet beautiful.
Coffee was served in the dining room at 7 AM every morning, which we appreciated, as we are early risers. I have to say, it was the best coffee I've ever had! Very smooth and delicious! The breakfasts were also delicious - plenty of fresh fruit and wonderful entrees - blueberry french toast one day; fluffy ham, egg, and cheese omelette the next. All served on lovely china in a beautiful setting! We got a chance to talk with other guests on Sunday morning, then the innkeepers the next morning. Tim and Jan are very gracious hosts, and it was wonderful getting to know them as they shared their lives with us.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend - so relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. We would highly recommend the Magnolia House Inn!

We enjoyed the whole experience - the quaint inn with very comfortable and clean rooms, delicious breakfasts and nice touches such as refrigerated water bottles, coffee, wifi, etc. In the heart of Lexington, it allows for walking into town and easy access to Washington and Lee University. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and were pleasantly surprised. We would recommend it.

It was amazing to experience a Haven of rest in the middle of a busy college weekend. It was so refreshing! The general spirit of the place, the decor, the gracious innkeepers, Tim & Jan, and all the little touches that went into every room, every breakfast etc made us spoiled. It really will be very difficult to go ANY place else after this visit! We will remember it as a perfect place for a breath of fresh air and comfort!! We enjoyed every room(as we booked nearly the whole house) It is THE only place I want to stay now.... The Chesapeake Cox family
