On our way traveling to relatives over xmas, I had the chance to stay at this charming B&B. My wife, daughter and I arrived there late afternoon after driving most of the day. And what did we find? A welcome oasis from the road, one where the inn keeper was charming and gracious and the accomodations and atmosphere first rate. If you're looking for a run of the mill overnight stay, bypass this place. But if you're looking for a relaxing place that's more than just a bed and a meal, check this place out. I know we will, we already changed our reservations on our return trip to stay here. - NJ

My family and I just spent the weekend at this B&B. It is located 5 miles outside of Lexington in a beautiful, serene setting. The innkeeper, Sarah, was very pleasant and friendly. She was a wonderful hostess and helped us find our way around the city and the farm. Her daughter is 6 years old and helps her mom with the breakfast. The dad wasn't seen during our stay.

The home is very clean but don't expect anything fancy at all. There aren't many antiques or updated decorations. The breakfast was standard scrambled eggs (from their own hens), bacon, French toast, pancakes...but you choose one of the entrees the night before on a piece of paper. The beds were a little squishy and the water pressure was really weak. There is AC though!

This is the perfect place to stay with children because they can nap during the day and won't break anything in the home. Sarah was very laid back about our 2 year old running around. Ask for the suite though. It ran about $115 (not including taxes) a night.

As far as the sheep farm and chickens, you really need to ask to see them and experience the farm atmosphere. Sarah is happy to show you the animals up close. But don't expect a huge experience on the farm.

They were seen in Cookie magazine and also featured in my book about traveling in Virginia with children.

We had an enjoyable stay here as a family, but in hindsight may have enjoyed staying in town more. The accomadations here are very basic. The food was good, but not incredible. Our child was much less interested in the farm experience than we hoped she would be. On the whole, I would equate this with a a two star hotel that hasn't been upgraded in quite a few years.

Super nice mom and daughter - never met the dad - maybe he is the gourmet. Breakfast was not gourmet but was edible. We had our 2.5 yr old daughter with us and she loved playing with their 3 yr old and seeing the animals. Be prepared to get dirty! Room was average, but functional and clean. Could have used a more firm mattress.
