“ONE OF THE BEST PLACES EVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

We often stay in bed and breakfasts/inns and this one deserves a 10 plus. The beautiful hotel is on a crest overlooking the Shenandoah Valley. We had beautiful views from our large charming room and there is a nice sitting area for those who want to congregate or watch a movie, etc. on the second floor which was great. Breakfast was delish, the host was charming and helpful. Staying near Lexington and spending time in town was a high point to our vacation.

The views are really beautiful . Located at edge of town and convenient to Washington and Lee campus. Rooms well appointed, comfortable and all needs supplied. Breakfast delicious and helpful service through out stay. Owners very friendly and present to help with all our needs. Will definitely return.

My husband and I stayed at Brierley Hill during a weekend visit to Lexington, Virginia to see our son. We stayed in the "Once Upon a Time" room. It was spotlessly clean with a comfortable king sized bed and beautiful views. The breakfasts were wonderful! David and Karen are friendly, hardworking people who go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. We particularly enjoyed the rocking chairs out on the porch overlooking the valley. All in all, it was a great experience.

Just stayed at the Bed & Breakfast 3/20-3/22. This home is absolutely beautiful! Upon arrival we were greeted promptly by Dave, one of the inn keepers. My husband and I stayed at the Bed & Breakfast to celebrate our 5th anniversary. When we got to our room the "Good Friends" suite we had a cute little "Happy Anniversary" sign as well as some chocolates.

Our room included a private porch and huge jacuzzi tub! We definitely took advantage of both. We also had a mini fridge (stocked with soda and water) and a coffee machine (with teas, coffee, and hot chocolate). The great thing about the "Good Friends" suite was that it is the only room located downstairs, thereby adding some more privacy to your stay.

The common areas were nice. There was a porch with rocking chairs to look out over the gorgeous view. Upstairs there was a small common area with a large selection of DVDs and a puzzle to work on if one wanted to. There was also peanut M&Ms, pretzels, and cookies available in the common areas during the day.

Breakfast was good. The first day we had baked grapefruit, waffles with fruit, AMAZING bacon, and were offered an ice cream sundae for dessert. The second morning we had fruit with yogurt and homemade granola (which was very good!), and an egg casserole type dish (I can't remember the name).

We also liked visiting with their dogs, Deuce an Tucker, and their cat Lilly. The pets all stayed in a separate area, away from guests.

The only negatives I found were some of the amenities were lacking (when compared to other bed & breakfasts I've been too) and the decor wasn't my style (a little too early 90s for me).

All in all I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing weekend in small town America. Dave and Karen, the inn keepers, are so very accommodating and a very sweet couple. You can definitely tell they are hard working people!

My husband and I just returned home from our 4th visit to Brierley Hill, and we can't wait to go back. Instead of just a stop on the way to somewhere else, Brierley Hill has become a destination. The views are spectacular, and the rooms are so comfortable and relaxing. Dave and Karen welcomed us just as if we were family members, and after two visits since they assumed ownership, we feel like family. We stayed for two nights this visit in the Wedgwood Room, our favorite. There are windows on three sides. I love to sit by the front window in the mornings and watch the deer in the front yard. Breakfasts are delicious. We had baked grapefruit, waffles with pecans and bananas, eggs florentine, sausage, juice, coffee cake, etc., and Karen baked chocolate chip cookies for the guests. As we were loading our car to leave, my husband looked at me and asked, "Do we really have to go?" I reluctantly replied that we did. However, we plan to return this summer when time allows. Yes, we love Brierley Hill!

Room Tip: The Wedgwood Room is wonderful!

En-route to NC from MD we found the absolute perfect place to stop. With picturesque views of the surrounding area from the house, the marvelous breakfast and the comfort of our room this is a 'must stay' B&B. Dave and Karen really take the time to make sure that every comfort is provided and ensure that your stay is perfect. As well as being delightful and hospitable hosts they are very nice people and are so well suited to this business.

Brierley Hill B&B is a wonderful experience. David and Karen are warm and welcoming innkeepers. The view from the house is spectacular and the breakfasts will get you started on the right foot every morning. This was our third stay at Brierley and we will be back. We have stayed at B&Bs throughout the country and this is one of the best.
