We arrived after a long day driving down the Skyline Drive. We were greater by Jeff who informed we were he only guests that night and to treat it as our home from home. We did exactly that helped by a few glasses over very nice dry white wine and a really excellent meal cooked by Jeff. To keep it in the family breakfast was cooked for us by Carrie, Jeff's wife.
We had the Big House Mountain room. It is large with great king size bed, with large private deck with hot tub. Despite Jeff's assurances about the water temperature we did not make use of this facility, preferring supper and wine.
The overnight rain and thunderstorm cleared in time for us to appreciate the wonderful setting of the Inn.
In summary a great place to stay. Would we return; a definite YES.

Room tip: Go for one of the rooms with king bed and Views over the valley to the front of the hotel.

Views you can't imagine! We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a cheese platter. We enjoyed it out on the upstairs balcony. The owners' Golden Retriever kept us company. We enjoyed the snack while enjoying the view of the pond and twin peaks, the chirping birds, etc. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. We had an outdoor Jacuzzi tub - blissful! The food in the restaurant was sublime! We had a lovely family dinner. The next morning we had to leave very early and the proprietor made the extra effort to come in early and prepare us a fantastic breakfast! We have never stayed at such a peaceful place, nor have we had such attention given to details and great service. If I ever get the chance to visit the area again I would not hesitate to stay here!

we spent one night at this delightful lodge. It is a secluded, peaceful, large lodge type accomocations, with common areas and private sleeping rooms. The common areas were the porches, the great room and bar and dining room. The room we stayed in was Green Hill room at the top of the stairs. We had a private hot tub on a private porch with seating. There was a gas fireplace and large bathroom. This place is set up to be a wedding venue. And it delivers as it is perfect for a wedding, if rustic or country elegance is your taste, you will not be disappointed.
The staff was accomodating, gracious and so welcoming.
The entire property was immaculate.
The sheets and towels were great
No overpowering air freshener smells, just the clean smell of cleanliness
wonderful crisp drinking water
Breakfast and supper were included in the price. I would almost drive back just for the pecan pancake and a glass of ice water...so wonderful
There are small ponds on the property and fishing eq available.
I certainly recommend this inn.
The only downsides I saw were these.
waterspots on the bathroom ceiling, and the distance to the inn. We were approx 10 miles from Lexington but the road was in great condition all the way.

Room tip: Green hill room is a little noisy since it is at the top of the steps

I loved the rustic look and the location. I was back visiting friends, and I really enjoyed my stay here. I will come back. The breakfasts are great. My only regreats were I didn't get to bring my sweetie, and I didn't have a chance to have dinner here,
I loved the wine and cheese hour too.

Stayed at the House Mountain Inn in May for two nights, the log cabin is beautiful as well as the grounds. The room was bigger than depicted on the website, we had a hot tub room at the backside of the house. Got to see all of the rooms, we were the only ones there, they are all beautiful . Staff was very friendly and helpful. Also enjoyed the hiking trails. Do not hesitate staying here, have stayed in many bed and breakfast and this one rates high. Not many beautiful rustic log cabins in the mountains in the south like this one so if you have the opportunity to stay here please do. I will spread the word, hope to stay again in the future.
