I can't believe I haven't left a review for this wonderful place yet. We stayed there twice and both times liked it a lot. The first time was after Christmas in 2008, and we came back last year (2011).
We found the place same romantic, same nice, and hosts same friendly, only trees by the pond grew up a little :-)
The greatest thing we like about this place is the atmosphere created both by the interior/design and the friendliness of hosts. Staying there is both like being cozy at home and at the same time having a great romantic getaway. The Inn offers enough privacy and peace for people who want to escape city fuss and buzz and have a relaxing quality time either with someone or just by oneself.
One of the coolest (and I don't mean temperature), features is the outdoor hot tub. Almost each room has one in the private patio. They are great way to relax. Both times we stayed here, we took the room with a tub.
When we had our vacation in 2008, we stayed in Big House Mountain room which was on the 1st floor. It was a great spacious room with a nice bathroom, hot tub outside and a fireplace inside. We loved it but wanted to try something different so this time (December 2011) we took a Green Hill Mountain room on the second floor. It's a bit smaller and has no sofa in it but we didn't miss that. We still had a hot tub in the patio and a fireplace in the room. These are 2 things I like most. The bathroom was nice as well, and clean. We had no complaints about cleanliness or services except one little bug... Well, actually we had several bugs- stinky bugs- visiting us during the stay. The staff said it was unfortunatelly that season... I'm sorry to say that but yes, we had to share our nice romantic room with bugs this time...
A view from both rooms was towards the forest. The Big House Mountain room is the corner room with a patio at the end of the house. There is a lawn stretching from the patio towards the forest there. We enjoyed little birdies playing on the lawn or visiting our patio when staying in that room. The Green Hill Mountain faces the slope of the hill with a forest.
The bed and pillows in Green Hill Mountain room were pretty comfortable and the bed size was large enough. I had some doubts when looking at the photo on the Inn's site but in reality the bed appeared to be larger than I was imagining. Oh, the covers are not the same color as the image shows but other than that- all is the same- very interesting cow-boy style decor, beautiful pictures on the walls.
One special feature the Inn had when we visited the first time in 2008 and which was almost gone this time (December 2011) were beautiful items of special ceramics- mugs and "Do not Disturb" signs with "House Mountain Inn" on them. We were told that someone bought them, and I was allowed to buy the last mug I found there. I sincerelly hope that they will get a new set of these great mugs and signs. They make evenings by the fireplace really special.
The food at the Inn's restaurant was always very good both for breakfasts and dinners, and we enjoyed cheese and wine tasting hours in the afternoons. We were allowed to bring cheese and wine to the room and enjoy it at our leisure. Same about dessert and coffee or tea. By the way, tea or coffee was always easily accessable for self-service at the lobby's "kitchen" area or at the wine bar.
The kitchen is equiped with a microwave and fridge, so guests can either keep some food cool or warm it up if they want to. Our hosts kindly put our last dessert in the fridge the morning we checked out, so that we could enjoy it and the last cup of hot coffeee after we come back from the ride to the top of the mountain.
The ride to the mountain top observation tower is one of the services the Inn offers. They have a forwheel for that. It was a fun trip, and the view that opens from the tower is gorgeous. I can only imagine how wonderful it is when trees are dressed in all fall colors. We visited in winter so no leaves... This had own advantage though. While driving up and down we could see through the trees and realize how steep the slopes really were.
We want to thank our host for that great ride.
One extra service we tried this time was the in room massage. It was an interesting experience.
Despite of some minor inconvenience because of stink bugs we truly enjoyed the stay and sure are planning to come back. We are going to check yet the other room next time!
I'll add some photos to the review so you can see things with own eyes.More
