This was my third time to stay at Sleep Inn on my road trip, and I was almost sold on Sleep Inn as my new favorite hotel UNTIL I stayed at the Sleep Inn in Lexington, VA. I was so disappointed that not all Sleep Inns have the same standard of quality, and you can’t depend on consistency. After I turned on all the lights, it was still a dark dim room. The other Sleep Inns have nice bright lights in the room, helping to make the room feel cheery. Then I saw the footstool was very filthy and stained, probably from people using it as a coffee table. The TV can only be viewed from the bed unless you drag the corner chair over to the bed. TV sits inside a dresser, so it only faces the bed. Forget the idea of sitting at the desk, writing some emails or whatever while you catch a show on TV too. If you want to enjoy your pizza with a movie on TV, you will have to eat on the bed. The rooms are worn looking. The very worst part of this stay was the shower stall (no bathtub). The shower floor was so dirty, that I should have brought shower shoes to wear. Since I didn’t, I decided it was better to skip a shower than stand barefooted on the shower floor. I’ve been to cleaner campground showers than this one. I hope the mgmt is reading this, and considers getting some elbow grease cleaning on those shower floors. It really set the wrong mood for the entire stay when a guest doesn’t want to use the shower.
To end on a somewhat positive note, they have a tiny indoor swimming pool. The deepest part is 4’1. The spa was nice and hot. The entrance to hotel is nice. Check in was pleasant and quick, and the desk clerk explain things like when the breakfast hour and check out time were. The microwave and frig were clean, although they removed the temperature adjustment knob inside the mini frig. The checkout staff was friendly too. No problems with customer service. The location is good, close to a shopping center and Walmart for groceries. Didn't use breakfast service so I can't comment on the breakfast experience. Overall, the value was not as good of a deal as I thought I was getting. If I could do it over again, I would spend about $20 more and get a nicer room at one of the newer hotels.

We are extremely apologetic for the problems you encountered during your stay. I have already talked to my housekeeping staff so they can address the cleaning issues immediately. However, we do have rooms with bathtubs as well and could have switched you immediately if we had the opening. We are in the process of undergoing major renovation and want to assure you that within the next couple years, our rooms will be entirely new. We greatly appreciate your positive comments about the staff service. We sincerely hope you will provide us another opportunity to serve you.
