Two friends and I went on a two-day leaf-peeping get-away and stayed overnight here. It was a perfect addition to our mini-vacation. Since we were visiting mid-week, the rate was very affordable - $127 AAA rate for a two-queen room with refrigerator and microwave. I won't repeat all the descriptions from other reviews, I'll just add my own impression. As I was driving toward the hotel, I admit I was a little concerned about just how "charming" or "historic" it was really going to be, since I was finding myself passing a string of gas stations, stores, auto repair places, etc. Then you turn into the driveway of the hotel, and that commercial ugliness disappears and you feel like you have stepped back in time. The hotel grounds are extensive, so you feel isolated from the real world around you. Yet when we wanted dinner and didn't feel like driving anymore, it was a short stroll to a decent Mexican restaurant. There is a Kroger that is an easy walk away, too, if you forgot anything. This is a perfect "home base" if you are doing some Blue Ridge sightseeing, since it's only a few miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The downtown part of Lexington looked quaint and is definitely on my list of places to re-visit and spend more time exploring. Everything about this Hampton Inn was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty standard, but still a great bonus, and so unique since it was served in the historic part of the hotel. All in all, this Lexington Hampton Inn is near the top of my list of all-time favorite Hampton Inns.
