“Should try again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Went for Sunday brunch, place is pretty new and still needs to finesse things. They opened at noon but nothing was setup until almost 12:30pm. Items kept dribbling out to the buffet after we'd already passed through. Miso soup was there but not the condiments that go in it...until about 10 mins after I had finished. Rice was falling apart on the sushi, did not "stick" well together. I think I need to try this place again as I think they will get it together and be a great addition to Leesburg.

“Tokyo Treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

And, to think a taste of Tokyo was just around the corner. My husband and I stopped by the newly opened Japanese Kitchen for an early lunch in-between errands. Don't let the restaurant's facade dissuade you. Upon entering you kinda get the feeling you aren't in Leesburg anymore.
The industrial vibe of the very large space is powerful--the use of steel, glass, and wood all on a concrete floor gives it a very cosmopolitan feel. (We were the only patrons for nearly 30 minutes, but I would assume a full house might make for rather loud surroundings.) We were promptly greeted and seated and delighted in checking out the appealing touches--the lovely glass blown light fixtures and the "more is less" table settings (the chopsticks are really cool). But then the waiting game began. Somehow in the middle of the day, justified or not, everyone expects everyone else to be in a hurry as we run from one errand to another. Be aware, no one is in a hurry here. It was ten minutes before our miso soup arrived and another fifteen minutes before the empty bowls were collected and yet another ten minutes before the entrees arrived. But if you do wait, you will be rewarded handsomely. We ordered the Asian spicy bbq chicken and the Korean bbq beef bento boxes. They were as beautiful to look at as they were delicious on the taste buds. The seaweed salade was the best I've ever tasted--the freshness of the ingredients and sauce were superb. The fried beef dumplings and steamed shrimp shumai were yummy as were the cali and spicy rolls. Both bbqs were lovely examples of what they should be and tasted fantastic--first rate cuts of meat and veg grilled perfectly. The cups of tea are huge and topped off upon request. The sushi bar in the rear of the room is larger than most; the "grill tables" easily sit a minimum of 8; there is a separate dining area which could be a great party space; and the entire area is spotless. The servers were well spoken, well dressed and very polite. The only negative in an otherwise absolutely lovely lunch was the service time factor. But if you aren't in a hurry, and maybe we shouldn't have been, this is a lovely spot to enjoy fresh, well prepared Japanese cuisine presented with artful flair in a hip and modern space at remarkably reasonable prices.
