“Pleasant Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

This was our first visit to Zephaniah. We were pleasantly surprised. The tasting room is in the family home which dates back to 1830. We were greeted at the door by Bill, one of the owners and given a history of the family and home. Zephaniah is named after Bill's great grandfather. We were taken to a dining/sitting room with a nice fire going in the fireplace. We sat by the fire while tasting their wonderful wines. We loved each one. Bill explained each wine we tasted. It was a unique and wonderful experience. There is a $5.00 tasting fee. Wine prices by the bottle are $22.00 - $27.00. We look forward to going back.

“Most unique wine tasting experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

This is a must see and taste experience. We visited recently, sampled excellent wine in the dining room of an historic home, sat in front of the fire, and enjoyed hearing about the history of the farm from the owner. Very unique & owners are very genuine and kind.

“Best Chambourcin in Virginia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Zephaniah Farm Vineyard has to be the least-commercial winery I have ever visited. The tasting room is in the living room of an old farmhouse that has been in the family for generations. Visitors sit at antique tables and chat with winemakers one-on-one, which is a real pleasure. Bill Hatch, the owner, is a fount of information about winemaking in general and Virginia winemaking, in particular. Wines are excellent across the board but the Chambourcin Reserve stopped me dead in my tracks. Rich and deep, with black cherry and plum notes basking in smoky ambience. I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about wine -- I've lived in California, Europe and the Finger Lakes of New York and prowled many a tasting room -- but this one was a complete surprise. I walked out with half a case and a new appreciation for what Virginia wine can be. Highly recommended.
