“Not a family place!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Second visit to melt. First time was with me and my husband on a sunday afternoon. Totally cramped and people are willing to kill one another over seats. The food was good other than stressing over when and how we would get a seat. It was pretty expensive but food was good. We went with our three kids on a saturday night and it was the same problem. Not a seat in the house and when we asked the kids to try and find a seat the adults of another family actually fought him for the table. We ended up getting frustrated and just left. Not a family restaurant!

“Terrible place for families.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Long line and no seating equals total anarchy. Adults kept cutting my kids off for tables while i waited forever in line to order.

So called "kids" discount is a $7 dollar burger! My burger was $13 and not worth it at that price. At Ray's the burgers are better and they make people wait til they have a number before they can grab a table.

“Excellent Food - Great Donations to Local Animal Shelter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Went to Melt today for lunch with my family. My wife and I had cheeseburgers (1/2 or 3/4 pound - not sure which, but pretty large) and the french fries with cheese and bacon.

side note - we usually don't indulge quite like that, but it was my last day of my winter holiday from work :)

The cheeseburgers were excellent. My wife went with the house recipe, and I had the black and bleu. Both were huge and delicious. My son, who is 4.5 years old, had the corn dog from the kids meal.

It's short order. Order and pay at counter, take your number to the self seating area, and await food porn. Take care of your own trash/recyclables. There was no line to order, and though the seating area was a little small, we had no problem getting a table.

The menu was large - probably offered more burger choices than Red Robin. Their exotic burger was a Peking Duck burger. It featured duck from a local farm.

I think the best part was the philanthropy of the place. All along the walls were large photographs of animals needing adopted from the local shelter. Dogs, Cats, Rabbits and Horses were all over the walls. Plus, MELT does not give tips to their employees. Instead, there is a contribution jar for the animal shelter. They have 2 tables for outdoor dining. Next to the tables was a water dish for dogs (outdoor seating is pet friendly).

It's a nice little business with a heart. This was my first experience there. I really enjoyed it, will definitely go back, and will encourage others to do so as well.

“A little high on the prices, but a darn good burger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

We decided to try Melt after hearing good things from some friends. We went early on a Friday evening, and there was no line and plenty of tables were available. The seating area is a bit cramped, but it's not THAT bad. You go to the counter and order, they give you a number and you wait at your table for them to bring your food. I did like that they don't take tips-they encourage you to give that money to the local animal shelter (they also have posters on the walls of animals that are currently available for adoption-LOVED this idea). The price is a little steep for burgers-it was ~$30 for 2 burgers (not the specialty ones), 1 order of onion rings (big enough for 2), 1 can of soda and 1 can of beer. They do have a decent beer selection (my husband had a Bitter American from 21st Amendment if that gives you any idea-I also saw Lagunitas in the cooler). There was a bit of a wait for the food (not excessive though), and it was worth it. The burgers are delicious, juicy and have a perfect balance of toppings to burger ratio. They are also huge. You know how wide you have to open your mouth when you yawn really big? Yeah, that's how wide I had to open up to take a bite of my burger. Overall, I think we will definitely be back. I think they could improve on the ordering process, get fountain sodas, etc., but they are off to a good start. Plus, it's good to support local businesses that also have their hearts in the right place with the animal shelter.

“Nicely niched homegrown 'fusion' Diner:0)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

Delicious and HUGE! This smart strip mall diner is more than u would expect. They carved out their own niche for work week lunchers by providing high quality 'burgers' (veggie, salmon, turkey, beef, etc) decked out with everything from high quality everyday cheeses to a culinary thrill seeker's dream. Foie gras fries? Check. Parisian style gift box size burger to eat for days? Check.

Also saw some hand spun milk shakes on high demand.

Tip: if u order carry out, walk to the register. there is no sign and u can bypass the line though this may be a right of passage for newbies:0)
