“Smallest National Cemetery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This Battlefield is a wonderful place to soak up history and to hike. The Battlefield borders the Potomac River and the path travels down the bluff and goes quite a way along the river. A great hike for the whole family. Strollers could not take this hike.

“Great historical site small and compact site!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

Free is always good. Nice Civil War battle site with the smallest Natioal Cemetary. The battle had very signicant outcome to Congressional Military Oversight committee and also the death of a very close friend of Abraham Lincoln. The paths are very well marked with historical plaques and signs. Nice walk along small battlefield and nice scenery of the Potomac river.

A nice easy hike with Civil War significance. The country's smallest national cemetery is located here - quite an interesting battle to learn about.

Compact Civil War battlefield. The free guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays are a must. The tour guides are very knowledgable.

“Balls Bluff Battlefield and National Cemetary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

If you're a Civil War buff, or even if you're not, this is a great little place to go with friends/family on a sunny autumn afternoon. We took the 1 pm tour (they give 11 am and 1 pm tours on the weekend) last Sunday which just happened to be the anniversary of the batlle. Our tour guide (I believe his name was Mr. Glenn?) was excellent....really gave an excellent retelling of what went on here during the Civil War. You can walk over the bluff and view the Potomac (Maryland on the other side). Great outing for a morning or afternoon.
