This place has a nice short trail loop that goes towards the Potomac River - nice views of the river from the overlook. You can hike down to the river if you want by following the trail. Good short hike.

Red Rock is tucked into a bend on the Potomac River just outside Leesburg. It's got nice trails - with hills - that take you to a dramatic cliff overlooking the Potomac.

I remember when this place was REALLY in the middle of nowhere but still only about 2 miles from downtown Leesburg. The area around it has ground up a lot in the past 20-25 years. But the park itself is still a gem. Once you get on the trail you'll feel like you're in the wilderness. And it's a short hike down to the Potomac River. Great place.

Few people visit this park, and those who do are usually hikers, bird-watchers or other nature lovers. Because of this, the animals typically do not hide all day. We have seen deer, rabbits, gophers and even a fox!
The terrain is not so bad that a jogging stroller could not get around, but it will not make it all the way down to the river's edge.
