We LOVE Galletta's. While it's only got a small upstairs dining area, if you want italian specialties - e.g., home-made lasagna or ante-pasta plate - to take to a party or for a special dinner - this is the place to get it! Not cheap but worth every penny for a special occasion. They also have wonderful deli items and gourmet foods - i.e., an italian gourmet food shop. And the dinners (must make reservations), though we haven't been in awhile, in their dining area are fabulous!

This is a tiny, family-run place with very limited hours. Make sure that you check their website to make sure they are open before you commit to a trip.

Their Italian sandwiches are awesome. I think they must use fresh ciabatta bread from South Street Under just down the road but the meats are what set them apart. They slice super high-quality meats only when you order the sandwich and it comes with a side of hot-pepper relish. They have bags of chips and cans of soda as well as Italian sodas to go with. We got a ham and an Italian sandwich and also split one of the antipasto plates with meats, cheeses and pickled veggies and it was SO GOOD. I think they have started to offer a single-option hot lunch special a couple of days a week, again check the website first. On Friday and Saturday they usually do a limited-option hot dinner. We have been once and it was great, the fresh tortellini with pesto cream sauce was yummy.

They also have a small Italian market downstairs where they sell fresh-made pasta and sauces as well as imported olive oils, vinegars and other odds and ends.
