White's Ferry is the longest running ferry on the upper Potomac linking Montgomery County, Maryland and Loudoun County, Virginia. It's family owned and operated, and costs $6.00 round trip. You drive your car right onto the ferry, which can hold about 15-20 cars at a time, you stay in your car during the five minute ride across, and then you drive off and go! It's quiet, relaxing, and fun, and you can watch the river while you're crossing. The waiting line to get on is not usually very long, but if you miss the ferry when you get there, the wait for the next trip is only as long as it takes to load up on the other side and then come back across. It's a lot faster than going all the way to Point of Rocks Bridge to cross the river! Even my dog enjoys this ferry! Highly recommended.
