Owner description: Morven Park was once the home of Virginia governor, Westmoreland Davis, and his wife Marguerite. More than 70 years after his death, the accomplishments and ideals of Gov. Davis still resonate within the 1,000 acres of this one-of-a-kind place. Each year 150,000 people visit the Park, whether participating in its competitive equestrian events, touring its three museums, attending educational and recreational programs, or just enjoying the beauty of the woodlands, mountainous ridge, historic buildings, and formal gardens. Summer tour hours for Morven Park's three museums are Thursday, Friday,Saturday, and Monday 12p.m.-5p.m. and Sunday 12p.m-5p.m. Starting September 1st, the museums will be open to the public Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 - 5:00, with the last tour starting at 4:00 pm. The historic gardens, Turkey Hill Farm, hiking trails, equestrian center and athletic complex are open every day. Operated by the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation, Morven Park is a non-profit organization, relying on individual donations, memberships, and event income to finance its public programs and preservation of its historic and natural resources.

“Downton Abbey like afternoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

For history enthusiasts, it's well worth a visit to learn about the Westmorelands. The cost of the tour is quite reasonable and the real treat is being up close to the room furnishings. You're not kept behind a velvet rope. The carriage house tour is self guided but a fun diversion. Walking the grounds on a springlike day is a relaxing and lazy way to spend an afternoon. Probably not interesting for kids or teens.

“Spend a couple of hours here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Well worth visiting- great interactive tour and the place was fabulous. The price for the tour was reasonable ($4-6 each) and the guide was knowledgable and the rooms were fascinating- an original GE fridge, cherry splitter etc.

“Check out this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Got an hour? Want a place not packed with tourists? Would you (or your date, or guests from out of town) like a little dose of beauty, scenery, history, or culture? Watch Downton Abbey? Take a drive to Leesburg and visit Morven. My 14-yr-old daughter liked it fine, and the little kids in our small tour group looked engaged too. (They hand the kids photos of items to find in each room, so it makes it a game.) I agree with another reviewer that a picnic lunch would have been perfect. Maybe a frisbee or kite too---the grounds are endless. We forgot to search for the rugged Civil War huts, but we will return again.
We also enjoyed learning for the first time about the last owner, fantastic American...Governor Westmoreland Davis, who moved down from NYC and worked hard to restore and improve the livelihoods and methods of farmers. A brilliant and altruistic individual.
And the Mansion Admission fee is only $5.
