Tucked away in a corner of Leesburg is Morven Park. The property is very nice and well maintained, and offers a good opportuinty for a relaxing afternoon walk. The tour of the mansion is about 45-60 minutes long, very well conducted and related, and offers a good recount on what the owners of this mansion must have gone through from its beginning until now--a combination of art and history. With original furniture and well preserved rooms, the mansion is worth a visit to learn more about American history and in particular, Virginia. By stepping into each room, you can appreciate the history of this family and its predecessors, and learn about what was going on in Virginia and in America in those years, and how people managed back in those days.
We did not do the carriage tour but only the house. The fee is very small ($5/house) and if you have AAA, you can get a $1 discount. Well worth our time and money.
