My family and friends tell me I make the world's best apple pie. So when I see a sign for Mom's Apple Pie, I have to make a stop. The shop is charming. The shop is tiny. The shop is chock full of pies, pies, and more pies.
On the plus side: there were so many types of pies, it was hard to choose. If you want a certain kind, get there early because when I arrived in the very early afternoon, there was no apple pie. Don't miss the chilled pies in the cold case on the right. We almost missed a great slice of chocolate pie and an even better slice of coconut pie because of the crowd of people standing in front of it. (They weren't being rude; there was nowhere else to stand.) The slices were certainly generous. The fillings were heavenly.
The tiny shop with the great pies is located in the quaint area of Leesburg. It's a delightful place to stroll, window shop, and literally shop. So Mom's Apple Pie is right where it should be for folks who need to 're-fuel' so they can stroll some more.
By the way: they sell whole pies, too.
On the negative side: the number of customers far exceeds the number of parking spaces. This is basically a 'take-out' place. So if you want a cup of coffee and a slice of pie, do plan on enjoying it somewhere else.
A slight negative: pie crust is best when it is flaky. It must be really difficult to bake a pie commercially with a light flaky crust because I have never had one. Keeping that in mind, they make an okay crust.
So my apple pie is still the undisputed best as far as my family is concerned which keeps me happy.
