I was unimpressed after reading many reviews about the resort. The rooms and food were only so so. They lost our wine tour reservation. The pool staff, golf staff, and the door men(greeters) were nice and friendly.

Room Tip: Bathrooms are tight in the double deluxe rooms.

Lansdowne Resort is beautiful, staff was very helpful we had a great weekend if back in Leesburg it would be the only the only place I would consider staying, definitely rates 5 stars. I am not a golfer but links were well maintained as was the entire resort.

Have now visited twice (once w/ Wife and once with wife and 2 kids) and had a great time both visits. The staff was super attentive and the rooms were quite large and very clean. Even though it was winter time, both visits were great and we're looking forward to making the trip during the summer months to enjoy what looks to be a terrific pool.

Did a family stay-cation here. It was nice... But there were some things they could improve on. The pillows were terrible for example. I expect better from a hotel / country club like this.

Pool was great. Golf looked really nice but I didn't play. Everyone had a nice time

Recently stayed at Lansdowne Resort for a wedding. I wish I could give 3.5, but it is closer 4 than 3. We stayed one night on the property, which is a short 40 minute drive from our home inside the DC beltway.

A few PRO's and CON's:

PRO's:
- Beautiful grounds and landscaping.
- Golf courses (did not play) looked amazing
- Nice verandas and lobby
- Nice front desk staff
- Good food at the breakfast and wedding reception

CONS:
- As a few other posters have said, the colors of this resort interior are very dark. Lots of brown, taupe, and olive greens. They should brighten it up somehow.
- The room was small. My recent room in downtown Chicago was bigger the week before. Kind of cramped.
- Was given an ADA room with its eccentricities
- Had a room with a pretty poor view
- When walked into the room, it was pitch dark and had to fumble around for a light

All in all, this is a nice retreat destination that seems to cater to weddings and business receptions. I could not see myself actually "vacationing" there, unless for golf. Our stay was about $225 for the night. If it were any higher, I don't think it would be a good value but we enjoyed our brief stay.

We drove from Tennessee so that my son could take his girlfriend to the prom in Leesburg. The hotel is lovely and the service very nice. The valet, bellhops, front desk and cleaning crew were very professional.
The room, however was not so great. The walls of the hall and the room were painted very dark colors. My room's walls were painted olive green with dark drapes, furniture, and carpet; they were all dark. The lamps were also dim.

The rooms were not equip with charge stations. Up-to-date hotels have a phone charger in the lamps at least.

Have your wallets ready; the valet's and bellhops expect $ and greet you under the covered entryway. I did not visit the restaurant or bar. I have been to the hair salon for a color and cut... it was expensive.

Room Tip: The front desk said that they were due for a complete update and reno this fall.

Green Features: They did not have recycle bins anywhere in sight. I really have no idea what their practices are.

We stayed there for our friend's wedding at Whitehall Manor (approx. 40 mins) which was beautiful - but that's another review. Check in was quick & easy as the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming (I believe her name was Sarah). We also got complimentary champagne. We were on the 3rd floor, as you walk into the room it just seemed a bit dated and smelled a bit damp. Which of course to us was better that smelling like smoke. The room had a great view of the golfing range, was spacious with a king bed, desk & chair, 2 arm chairs & coffee table plus TV/wardrobe. It was very clean. Liked the extra vanity mirror, but not too fond of their refillable shampoo, conditioner and body wash. None of them had the really nice spa smell. Didn't like the fact there was no towel rail to hang your wet towel, we just hung it on the back of the door. The bed sunk a little in the middle, but I find that most hotel beds are like that. The bed was a Sealy Posturpedic in case your interested. Loved their pillows as I didn't get a neckache. The breakfast buffet was good, a lot to choose from with some unique dishes. The bar had friendly staff and even the food was great for late night feasts. We loved how there was a microwave in the Gift Shop (which really didn't have gifts, just snacks, drinks & toiletries). I don't know why but I was expecting more of a Spa resort, I should have read the reviews, it caters more for golfers. They had complimentary coffee & tea in the mornings and then infused water in the afternoon. Loved that part of it.
